SEVEN SIGNS OF A LYING SPIRIT IN A PREACHER OR LEADER.

 Matthew 7:19-23

[19]Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 

[20]Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 

[21]Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 

[22]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 

[23]And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 

 The word 'iniquity ' is the Greek word  "anomia' it means illegality that is violation of law or (generally) wickedness: ,  

Their churches prosper through the proceeds of bribery and corruption. Jesus Christ describes such places as a 'den of thieves ' ( Matthew 21:13) . 

Though they claim to have miracles , and great works and mention the name of Jesus, it makes no difference. God's kingdom is not only about miracles , foods and pleasures but Righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Spirit ( Romans 14:17) . Righteousness is God's way of doing things.

One of the key stories is found in **1 Kings 22:20-24**, where God allows a lying spirit to deceive King Ahab through false prophets. This teaches us that deception can come through seemingly trustworthy sources. **Matthew 7:20-21** warns that false prophets will be known by their fruits, indicating that actions, rather than words, reveal true intentions.

In **2 Peter 2**, false teachers are described as those who secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying the Lord and exploiting people with deceptive words. **Jude 1** echoes this, highlighting the dangers of ungodly people who pervert the grace of God. **2 Thessalonians 2** further warns about the "man of lawlessness" and the powerful delusion sent by God to those who reject the truth.

The story of Abimelech in **Judges 9** demonstrates how deception and lies lead to destruction, both for the deceiver and those who follow. Recognising these signs—false teachings, secret heresies, corrupt fruits, and ultimate destruction—can help believers stay vigilant against lying spirits.

   In our daily prayers we should seek for discernment and a healthy appetite for God's word .

PRAYER; Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome evil manipulations .
