Good -Life Devotional: THE BOUNDARY OF TRUTH — GOD'S WORD IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Text: Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 1 Peter 4:11 (AMP)
God never intended believers to surrender their minds to any human leader. Spiritual authority is a gift from God, but it is never absolute. The only infallible authority is God's Word. Every sermon, prophecy, doctrine, and instruction must be tested by Scripture.
When Paul arrived in Berea, the Jews received his message with eagerness, yet they did not believe him simply because he was an apostle. They searched the Scriptures daily to verify whether his teachings were true (Acts 17:11). Rather than rebuking them, the Holy Spirit commended their diligence.    This establishes a permanent principle: every preacher is accountable to Scripture.
Paul himself reasoned from the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms because Jesus declared these Scriptures testified of Him (Luke 24:27, 44). Likewise, 1 Peter 4:11 commands ministers to speak "as the oracles of God." A preacher has authority only when faithfully declaring God's Word—not personal opinions, traditions, or private revelations.
Blind loyalty has led many into deception. God expects His children to know His voice through His written Word. Respect your pastor, honour spiritual mentors, but never replace the Bible with any personality. A leader may err; God's Word never does.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and discernment for the truth .
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to preach the gospel of truth.
Father, grant me wisdom and discernment. Help me to love Your Word above every human voice. May I honour spiritual leaders while remaining firmly anchored in Scripture. Let the Holy Spirit guide me into all truth, in Jesus' name. Amen.
