RESIST WITCHCRAFT IN THE CHURCH: A CALL TO CONFRONT BAD GOVERNANCE

The evil verdict against you shall not prevail because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

RESIST WITCHCRAFT IN THE CHURCH: A CALL TO CONFRONT BAD GOVERNANCE

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Scripture warns that rebellion against God’s truth operates as witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23). Witchcraft is not merely the casting of spells; it is the manipulation of minds to resist divine purpose. In Jeremiah 28, Hananiah appeared as a comforting prophet, promising speedy deliverance from Babylon. Yet God had not spoken through him. Jeremiah 28:15 declares, “You have made this people trust in a lie.” Hananiah’s message kept the people complacent under a corrupt system because it suited their desire for quick relief without repentance or strategic action.
Today, similar patterns emerge when false voices discourage believers from confronting injustice. Telling oppressed people to simply repeat “it is well” while ignoring corruption, insecurity, and economic hardship can become spiritual manipulation. Faith is powerful—but faith without truth and righteous action becomes passivity. Isaiah 1:17 commands, “Learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor.” Silence in the face of systemic evil is not spirituality; it is surrender.
The early church did not ignore injustice. In Acts 6:1–6, when inequity arose in food distribution, the apostles mobilized structural reform. They appointed qualified, honest men to ensure fairness. As a result, “the word of God kept spreading” (Acts 6:7). They broke administrative injustice, and growth followed. That is biblical engagement.
James 4:7 instructs, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Resistance is active, not passive. Deuteronomy 32:30 reveals the power of unity: “One will chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight.” Jesus affirmed corporate authority in Matthew 18:18—what we bind on earth is bound in heaven. When believers unite in righteousness, heaven backs their stand.
God does not call His people to docility under oppression. Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.” The church must reject deceptive voices and embrace truth, courage, unity, and lawful action. Spiritual authority must confront injustice—not protect it.
In our daily prayers we should break the stronghold of witchcraft in church leadership.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the fear of evil .
