Good -Life Devotional: GOD’S PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE

God’s promise of eternal life is one of the most profound truths of Scripture. 1 John 2:25 (AMP) declares, "This is the promise which He Himself promised us—eternal life." However, many people, like the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:16-21, struggle with the idea that eternal life is not earned by good deeds or religious excellence. This young man sought eternal life through his obedience to the law, yet Jesus showed him that salvation comes through following Him, not through human effort.
Jesus is the source of eternal life. In John 10:28, He promises, "And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand." Likewise, John 17:2-3 reveals that eternal life comes from knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom He has sent. The conjunction "and" in this passage equates Jesus with God, confirming His divine nature.
Furthermore, John 6:54 states, "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day." This signifies that receiving Christ, the living Word of God, leads to eternal life. Since only God can grant eternal life, and Jesus does so, He is God in the flesh. Peter recognized this truth when he declared, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life" (John 6:68).
Eternal life is God's gift, received by faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9). Will you accept His promise today?
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and awareness of the eternal life in Christ.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to live in abundance.
