  Adultery, defined as sexual relations between a married person and someone who is not their spouse, is not just a moral failure but a spiritual gateway to poverty within the church. Revelation 2:19-23 warns about false prophetesses in the likeness of Jezebel, whose teachings lead to sexual perversion and adultery. Their influence promotes moral decay, leading believers away from God's commandments. This spiritual defilement not only disrupts families but also brings extreme poverty, as God’s judgment can manifest in economic hardship, including increased infant mortality.

   God's position on adultery is uncompromising he says in Hebrews 13:4 'Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." . In the Old Testament, it warranted capital punishment (Leviticus 20:10). Jesus Christ elevated the standard by condemning emotional adultery, stating that anyone who looks at another with lust has already committed adultery in their heart (Matthew 5:28). Yet, Christ's mercy is evident in His encounter with the woman caught in adultery, whom He forgave while commanding her to "sin no more" (John 8:3-11).

  In today’s society, emotional adultery often begins with watching pornography or other sexually explicit content , which corrupts the heart and frequently leads to physical acts of adultery. To guard against this, believers must immerse themselves in God’s Word, fast, and seek self-control through the Holy Spirit. Accountability to spiritual authority and prioritizing fellowship (Hebrews 10:25) are vital for maintaining purity. By adhering to these biblical principles, the church can protect itself from the spiritual and economic consequences of adultery.

 In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and protection from the influence of false preachers .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome sexual sins.
