Your family shall not lack provisions because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good -Life Devotional: TEN BLESSINGS ON THE FAMILY THAT FEARS GOD
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
The family that fears the Lord enjoys divine favor, prosperity, and enduring legacy. Psalm 112 beautifully outlines ten blessings reserved for such a household. Deuteronomy 14:23 teaches that “the purpose of the tithe is to learn to fear the Lord your God always.” The fear of God is not terror, but deep reverence, obedience, and devotion.
Before Moses made it a law , Abraham demonstrated this fear when he gave tithes to Melchizedek, the priest of the Most High God (Genesis 14:18–20). His grandson Jacob made the same vow in Genesis 28:22, saying, “Of all that You give me, I will surely give a tenth to You.” This principle was not born from the Law of Moses but from the fear and honor of God. Isaiah 51:1–2 reminds believers, “Look to Abraham your father… for I called him alone, blessed him, and increased him.” Those who pursue righteousness are called to model his faith, obedience, and giving spirit.
According to Psalm 112, the family that fears God enjoys these ten blessings:
1) BLESSEDNESS AND JOY – “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord” (v.1).
2) MIGHTY OFFSPRING – “His seed shall be mighty upon earth” (v.2).
3) GENERATIONAL UPRIGHTNESS – “The generation of the upright shall be blessed” (v.2).
4) WEALTH AND RICHES – “Wealth and riches shall be in his house” (v.3).
5) ENDURING RIGHTEOUSNESS – “His righteousness endures forever” (v.3).
6) LIGHT IN DARKNESS – “Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness” (v.4).
7) DIVINE FAVOR AND MERCY – “He is gracious, and full of compassion” (v.4).
8)STABILITY AND SECURITY – “Surely he shall not be moved forever” (v.6).
9)VICTORY OVER FEAR AND ENEMIES – “His heart is established; he shall not be afraid” (v.8).
10) EVERLASTING REMEMBRANCE – “The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance” (v.6).
In the New Testament, the principle of giving continues as an expression of reverence and partnership in God’s work. Galatians 6:6 (AMP) commands, “The one who is taught the word of God is to share all good things with his teacher [contributing to his spiritual and material support].” Likewise, 1 Corinthians 16:1–2 instructs believers to “set aside a sum of money on the first day of every week, in keeping with their income, to support the work of the ministry.”
Thus, giving remains a sacred act of worship that demonstrates our fear of the Lord, our gratitude, and our faith in His provision. As Proverbs 14:26 declares, “In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence, and His children shall have a place of refuge.”
The family that fears God and honors Him with their substance will never lack — their generation will shine as a light in the world.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and the grace for giving to God's work.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power get wealth.
