GOD’S LAW AGAINST KILLING THE INNOCENT INCLUDING  BABIES IN THE WOMB

     From the beginning, God established the sacredness of human life. In Genesis 9:6 (AMP), He declared, “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.” Life is precious because every person bears God’s image. The law of God strictly forbids the killing of the innocent  including babies in the womb — not only as a moral rule but as a reflection of His just nature. 

     In Exodus 23:7, God commands, “Keep far away from a false charge and do not kill the innocent or the righteous, for I will not justify the guilty.” The shedding of innocent blood brings divine judgment upon individuals and nations alike. Deuteronomy 19:10 warns Israel to guard against innocent blood being shed in their land, lest they bring guilt upon themselves.

    God’s heart is for justice and mercy. Proverbs 6:16-17 lists “hands that shed innocent blood” among the seven things the Lord hates. In Psalm 106:38, Israel’s downfall came when they “shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters.”  Nigeria struggles under the guilt of the innocent blood through terrorism , kidnappings and abortions of babies . 

    In the New Testament, Jesus reaffirms this divine law. Matthew 5:21-22 teaches that murder begins in the heart, through hatred and anger. True righteousness protects life, not only outwardly but inwardly.

    Today, believers must uphold this standard — to defend the voiceless, cherish life, and stand against injustice. For God is “a refuge for the oppressed” (Psalm 9:9) and the avenger of all innocent blood.

  In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and and deliverance from blood guilt .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to defend the weak .
