THE FIRST PRAYER POINT IN ANY CHRISTIAN PRAYER AND FASTING PROGRAMME

The yoke of stagnation and confusion are being broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional: THE FIRST PRAYER POINT IN ANY CHRISTIAN PRAYER AND FASTING PROGRAMME

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

In every genuine Christian prayer and fasting programme, priority matters. Jesus Himself established this order when He taught His disciples to pray: “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:10–11, AMP). Before daily provision, Jesus pla

ced the coming of God’s kingdom. This shows that God’s government must take precedence over human and satanic systems for lasting provision to manifest.

God’s kingdom represents His rule, justice, righteousness, and order.    Where God’s government prevails, daily bread follows naturally. One of the major reasons for widespread poverty in Africa, especially Nigeria, is not a lack of resources but bad governance. Africa is abundantly blessed with natural wealth (Deuteronomy 8:7–9), yet its people suffer because ungodly leadership mismanages what God has provided. Therefore, Christians must deliberately place godly governance at the top of their prayer points—both individually and corporately.

Some preachers, unfortunately, attribute poverty solely to curses or witchcraft, while partnering with corrupt leaders. Scripture says otherwise. Psalm 107:38–40 reveals that God’s people are “minished”—a Hebrew term implying being brought low or reduced—because of oppression and poor leadership. Proverbs 29:2 also declares, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.”

The early church understood this principle. In Acts 4:32–35, they practiced a godly communal system, and “there was not a needy person among them.” Sadly, many African preachers enjoy functional systems abroad while neglecting to confront ungodly governance at home.

As Christians in Nigeria, we must insist that our prayer points include the enthronement of godly leadership (1 Timothy 2:1–2), so that God’s kingdom may prevail and daily bread may reach the people.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and commitment to good governance.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to promote good governance.
