Good -Life Devotional: HOW TO REMAIN UNSPOTTED
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
James 1:27; Romans 12:2
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” — Romans 12:2.
Remaining unspotted from the world requires a deliberate commitment to holiness and a life governed by God's Word. To be conformed means to be shaped by an external pattern, while transformation is an inward change of character. Romans 12:2 teaches that believers must reject worldly patterns and allow God's truth to renew their minds.
First, renew your mind through regular study and meditation on Scripture. What controls your thoughts eventually influences your conduct. Second, walk in the Spirit, because the Holy Spirit empowers believers to overcome sinful desires (Galatians 5:16).
Third, test every teaching and cultural practice by Scripture rather than accepting something because it is popular or promoted by religious leaders (Acts 17:11).
Fourth, guard your associations, because evil company corrupts good habits (1 Corinthians 15:33). Fifth, keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Remaining unspotted does not mean isolating ourselves from society. Jesus prayed that His disciples would be protected from evil, not removed from the world (John 17:15). We must serve, love and influence society without adopting its sinful values.
God's grace does not permit worldliness; it trains us to reject ungodliness and live righteously (Titus 2:11–12).
REFLECTION: My life should demonstrate the transforming power of Christ. I must examine my desires, reject ungodly influences and allow the Holy Spirit to shape my character.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive Him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome sin. Heavenly Father, renew my mind through Your Word. Help me walk in the Spirit, discern evil, resist worldly influences and remain holy. Let my conduct demonstrate the transforming power of Jesus Christ. Amen.
