ALTAR COVERED WITH TEARS INVALIDATES OFFERINGS

Text: Malachi 2:13–17; Titus 2:11–12

    The prophet Malachi exposed a tragic contradiction among God's people. They faithfully brought offerings to the altar, yet "covered the LORD's altar with tears" because God no longer accepted their sacrifices (Malachi 2:13). Why? Their worship was outwardly religious but inwardly corrupted by spiritual and emotional infidelity. The men of Judah had dealt treacherously with "the wife of your youth," violating the marriage covenant while pretending to honor God. Scripture makes it clear that broken covenant relationships can hinder worship (1 Peter 3:7; Matthew 5:23–24).

    Malachi 2:17 further rebukes a dangerous deception: "You have wearied the LORD with your words." The people claimed, "Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them." This was not God's message but the people's distorted theology. It was an attempt to redefine God's holiness by excusing sin. Sadly, the same error persists today when some modern preachers excuse adultery, immorality, and unfaithfulness among the rich, influential, or famous, claiming that grace covers every lifestyle without repentance.

    The grace of God never endorses sin. Titus 2:11–12 declares that God's saving grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. Grace transforms; it does not provide a license for rebellion (Romans 6:1–2; Jude 4). God delights in repentance, faithfulness, and obedience—not in evil (Psalm 5:4–5; Hebrews 13:4). Let your worship be accompanied by a pure heart, faithful relationships, and a life that reflects the transforming power of God's grace.

   May your worship, your family life, and your devotion be pleasing to the Lord as you walk daily in holiness and covenant faithfulness.

PRAYER : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome infidelity.
