Good-Life Devotional : THE RESURRECTION AND THE ETERNAL WEIGHT OF GLORY
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
2 Corinthians 4:13–18
“For our momentary, light distress [this passing trouble] is producing for us an eternal weight of glory [a fullness] beyond all measure, surpassing all comparisons.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17 (AMP)
The Christian faith rests on the historical claim that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again. In 2 Corinthians 4:14, Paul declares that the God who raised Jesus will also raise believers through Christ. The resurrection is not merely a religious idea; it is the foundation of our hope for eternal life.
In Christian apologetics, the resurrection deserves serious consideration because the apostles boldly proclaimed the risen Christ despite persecution and suffering.    Their willingness to endure hardship for their testimony challenges the suggestion that they deliberately fabricated the message. Although suffering alone does not prove a claim, the apostles’ testimony and the evidence surrounding the resurrection call for honest examination (1 Corinthians 15:12–20).
Paul’s confidence also teaches us to look beyond present circumstances. He does not deny the reality of suffering; rather, he understands that earthly troubles cannot compare with the eternal glory God has prepared for His people. Our present afflictions are temporary, but our hope in Christ is everlasting.
Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25, AMP). Through Him, believers have the assurance of resurrection and transformation into the likeness of His glory (Philippians 3:20–21).
REFLECTION
The resurrection changes how we face suffering, persecution, and uncertainty. We must not allow temporary circumstances to determine our eternal outlook. Since Christ has conquered death, we can live courageously, serve faithfully, and remain steadfast in the truth. Our hope is not limited to this present world; eternal glory awaits those who belong to Christ.
Christ’s resurrection assures us that suffering is not the end. Our present trials are temporary, but the eternal weight of glory is beyond comparison.
PRAYER : . Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive Him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome oppression.
