DELIVERANCE FROM THE STOCKHOLM SYNDROME OF BAD GOVERNANCE (Part 2)

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Text: "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)
Recognizing the problem is only the first step. Deliverance from the Stockholm Syndrome of bad governance requires action. God calls His people not merely to complain about injustice but to become agents of transformation.
An informed and engaged citizenry is difficult to manipulate. Throughout history, nations that achieved sustainable prosperity strengthened their institutions, educated their people, upheld the rule of law, and demanded accountability from leaders.
The Bible teaches both prayer and responsible action. Nehemiah prayed for Jerusalem and then worked to rebuild its walls. Faith and action must go together.
POWER POINTS FOR BREAKING FREE
+Educate yourself on governance, economics, and civic rights.
+Reject the politics of dependency and patronage.
+View public officials as servants, not benefactors.
+Support strong institutions rather than personality cults.
+Participate actively in elections and community affairs.
+Speak against injustice with wisdom and courage.
+Pray consistently for national transformation.
+Promote righteousness, transparency, and accountability.
Proverbs 24:11-12 reminds us not to withhold help from those who are being led into destruction. Silence in the face of systemic injustice only strengthens oppression.
Jesus called believers "the salt of the earth" and "the light of the world" (Matthew 5:13-16). Salt preserves; light exposes darkness. Christians must therefore influence society positively through integrity, truth, prayer, civic responsibility, and courageous leadership.
PRAYER Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive Him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to promote good governance.
Father, in the name of Jesus, deliver Africa from every cycle of bad governance and institutional failure. Raise leaders of integrity and citizens of courage. Strengthen our electoral systems, courts, media, and public institutions. Let righteousness, justice, and truth prevail in our nations. Empower Your people to be salt and light in society. May future generations inherit nations governed in wisdom, fairness, and the fear of God. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
