Good -Life Devotional:
GOD DOES NOT HAVE SPECIAL PRAYER MINISTRIES
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Many Christians today believe that only certain people or ministries are “called” to pray, but this idea is not supported by Scripture. Jesus taught in Luke 18:1 that “men ought always to pray, and not to faint,” showing that prayer is a universal calling for all believers—not a specialized ministry. In 1 Timothy 2:8, Paul says, “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting,” again emphasizing that prayer is for all.
God never intended prayer to be monopolized by a few. Prayer is simply communication with our Father in heaven, and every born-again Christian has direct access to God through Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:16). In Zechariah 12:10, God promised to pour out the “spirit of grace and supplication,” and in Acts 2:4, every believer received the Holy Spirit and spoke as the Spirit gave utterance—not just a chosen few.
Jesus declared in Matthew 21:13, “My house shall be called the house of prayer,” and 1 Corinthians 6:19 reveals that the believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, every Christian is God's house of prayer on earth.
The concept of prayer ministries as exclusive groups is an offshoot of idolatry—elevating men and creating spiritual hierarchies that God never endorsed. In Matthew 7:7-11, Jesus made it clear that the Father is willing to answer everyone who asks, seeks, and knocks.
God desires relationship with all His children, not a religious elite. Pray now , God is listening.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and boldness to preach the gospel.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to work miracles through prayers.
