Good -Life Devotional: HE GIVES MORE GRACE

James 4:6 (AMP) — “But He gives us more and more grace [throughout each stage of our life]. That is why He says, ‘GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD AND HUMBLES THEM, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE .’”
    The statement “He gives more grace” must be understood within the context of James 4. James was addressing quarrels, worldly desires, pride, and spiritual compromise. The answer to these struggles is not a hierarchy of believers possessing different levels of divine anointing, but the abundant sufficiency of God’s grace.
   The Greek phrase is :meizona charin' . The word 'meizona' is the comparative form related to 'μέγας' (megas, Strong’s G3173), meaning great, large, or abundant. Thus, “more grace” emphasizes that God's grace is greater than the pressures, temptations, weaknesses, and conflicts confronting His people.
   It should therefore not be used to claim that one Christian has a superior class of grace or a higher spiritual status than another believer. Scripture teaches that every believer receives grace through Christ, while spiritual gifts and ministries differ according to God’s sovereign purpose (Romans 12:6; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7).
   The issue James emphasizes is humility. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Grace is not a badge of spiritual superiority; it is God's sufficient help for those who depend upon Him.
REFLECTION: When we humble ourselves before God, His grace is greater than our weakness and stronger than the world's pressure.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive Him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome poverty. Father, deliver me from pride. Help me depend completely upon Your abundant grace and use whatever gift You have given me for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
