Texts: Galatians 5:19–21; 2 Timothy 3:1–5; Romans 1:25–31
    The Bible gives us practical signs by which carnality can be recognised. 2 Timothy 3:1–5 describes people who become lovers of themselves, lovers of money, proud, unthankful, unholy, without self-control, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, and outwardly religious while denying the transforming power of godliness.
  Romans 1:25–31 adds another serious warning: rejecting God's truth can lead to distorted values, dishonourable passions, unrighteousness, greed, envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness and disobedience. These passages show that carnality is not merely about particular sinful acts. It involves a fundamental orientation away from the Creator and towards self, creation and sinful desire.
   From an apologetic perspective, this challenges the idea that morality can simply be reduced to whatever human beings prefer. Christianity grounds moral truth in the character and authority of God. If God is the Creator, humanity is accountable to Him rather than being its own ultimate moral authority.
   Yet the gospel offers hope. Romans 8 does not merely condemn carnality; it points us toward the Spirit. Romans 8:6 says that spiritual-mindedness produces “life and peace.”
REFLECTION
Am I becoming more controlled by God's Spirit, or increasingly controlled by pleasure, pride, money, anger and self-interest? Is my Christianity transforming my character?
PRAYER Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive Him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome evil addictions
Lord Jesus, deliver me from the dominion of the flesh. Give me a renewed mind, a disciplined heart and a genuine love for God. Help me reject sinful desires and walk in the Holy Spirit. May my life demonstrate the transforming power of the gospel. Amen
