IS HELL TEMPORARY OR ETERNAL?

   One of the most debated subjects in Christian theology is the nature and duration of hell. Christian Universalists do not necessarily deny judgment, punishment, or the seriousness of sin. Rather, they argue that God's judgment is ultimately remedial and that His purpose is to restore creation to Himself.
   One major argument concerns the Greek word 'aionios', translated “eternal” or “everlasting.” Universalists point out that 'aion' can refer to an age or an age-long period. Therefore, they argue that 'aionios' can sometimes mean “pertaining to an age” rather than necessarily meaning endless duration.
They also appeal to Matthew 25:46, where Jesus says:
“These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
  Universalists argue that 'kolasis', translated “punishment,” can carry the idea of correction or discipline. They therefore understand God's judgment as a severe process through which sinners are eventually brought to repentance and restoration.
  They further appeal to 1 Corinthians 15:22: “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive,” and Colossians 1:20, which speaks of God reconciling “all things” to Himself through Christ.
   However, these verses must not be interpreted in isolation. The word 'aionios' cannot automatically be reduced to “temporary” every time it occurs. Likewise, 'kolasis' does not by itself prove that punishment is necessarily temporary. Context remains essential.
   The important question is therefore not, “What do I prefer God to do?” but “What does the whole counsel of Scripture teach?”

Father, give us humility as we study difficult biblical subjects. Deliver us from forcing Scripture to say what we want it to say. Give us wisdom, understanding, and love for Your truth. Help us to take both Your mercy and Your judgment seriously. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.

   Jesus Christ spoke and taught about the reality, warning, and consequences of hell—often using terms like Gehenna (translated as hell or fire of hell) and eternal fire—more explicitly and vividly than any other single figure in the Bible.
   While some teachers debate whether He spoke more about hell than about heaven (with many biblical scholars noting that He spoke far more frequently about the Kingdom of Heaven/God), it is widely recognized by theologians that Jesus provided the most direct, stark, and graphic descriptions of final judgment and unquenchable fire found in Scripture. He used these strong warnings not to condemn, but to urge repentance and offer a way of escape through Himself.
KEY BIBLICAL PASSAGES
Jesus primarily used the Greek word 'Gehenna' , which referred to a valley outside Jerusalem (the Valley of Hinnom) that had a history of pagan child sacrifice and later became a smoldering garbage dump. He used this vivid imagery to describe final judgment:
Matthew 5:22, 29–30 (The Sermon on the Mount): Jesus warns that calling someone a fool can put one in danger of the "fire of hell" (Gehenna). He famously states it is better to lose an eye or a hand than for your "whole body to be thrown into hell."
Matthew 10:28: He explicitly warns about ultimate accountability: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."
Mark 9:43–48: Jesus describes hell as a place "where the worm does not die and the fire is not quenched," emphasizing the unceasing nature of the consequence.
Matthew 25:41, 46: In the parable of the Sheep and the Goats, He speaks of the final separation, sending the wicked into the "eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

— TWO DESTINIES BEYOND DEATH

Scripture: John 5:28–29; Revelation 21:3–4; Revelation 20:11–15

   The Bible teaches that life after death ultimately involves two contrasting destinies. Jesus said that those in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—some to the resurrection of life and others to the resurrection of judgment (John 5:28–29).

   The story of Lazarus and the rich man provides a powerful picture of this separation. Lazarus was comforted, while the rich man was in torment. The rich man remained conscious of his condition and remembered his family. Yet Abraham explained that a great chasm had been fixed between them (Luke 16:25–26).

      This should awaken us to the seriousness of our earthly choices.

For the believer, the final hope is greater than the intermediate state after death. Scripture points toward the resurrection of the body, the final defeat of death, and the new creation. Revelation 21:3–4 declares that God will dwell with His people, and there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain.

    For those who reject God, Scripture presents a fearful final judgment. Revelation 20:11–15 describes the judgment before the great white throne, where the dead are judged according to their works. Jesus repeatedly warned about judgment, not to satisfy curiosity about the afterlife, but to call people to repentance and faith.

Therefore, eternity demands a decision today. Christianity is not merely about improving earthly life; it is about reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ.

    The good news is that nobody needs to wait until death to discover his or her eternal destiny. Jesus calls us now: “Repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15).

REFLECTION: Your earthly life is temporary, but eternity is permanent. What are you doing today to prepare for eternity?

Scripture: Luke 16:19–31; 2 Corinthians 5:8
   Death is not the end of human existence. Scripture presents life after death as a conscious reality in which people continue to exist beyond the grave. The body dies, but the person does not cease to be.
   Jesus illustrated this truth in the account of Lazarus and the rich man. Lazarus died and was carried by angels to “Abraham’s bosom,” while the rich man died and found himself in torment. Remarkably, both men were conscious. Lazarus experienced comfort, while the rich man experienced anguish. The rich man remembered his earthly life, recognized Lazarus, spoke with Abraham, and was concerned about his brothers who were still alive (Luke 16:23–28).
   This account gives us a sobering picture: death does not erase consciousness, personality, memory, or accountability.
For the Christian, however, death brings a completely different experience. Paul says, “to be absent from the body” is “to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). Jesus also promised the repentant thief, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43).
    The believer's future is therefore not an unconscious sleep or disappearance. It is fellowship with Christ. Hebrews 12:22–24 speaks of the heavenly assembly and “the spirits of the righteous made perfect.” Revelation 7:9–10 pictures a vast multitude worshipping before God's throne.
  There is therefore hope beyond the grave. The believer does not enter an empty eternity but the presence of the living God.
REFLECTION: If your earthly life ended today, where would you expect to spend eternity?

Lord Jesus, help me to live with eternity in view. Strengthen my faith, keep my heart faithful to You, and prepare me for the day when I shall be with You forever. Amen.

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:1–8; 1 Corinthians 15:42–44
   The biblical understanding of human nature gives us a powerful perspective on death. Death is not the destruction of everything that makes us who we are. It is the separation of the physical body from the immaterial dimension of our existence.
   Ecclesiastes 12:7 says, “Then the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”
  James 2:26 likewise teaches, “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.”
   The soul, however, should not necessarily be understood as a third invisible object that leaves the body alongside the spirit. Biblically, “soul” often describes the person or living self—our consciousness, desires, emotions, and identity.
   This is why Paul could say, “to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). He also expressed his desire “to depart and be with Christ” (Philippians 1:23).
   Yet Christianity does not teach that our ultimate destiny is to remain disembodied spirits forever. The great Christian hope is resurrection.
    Paul explains that the body is “sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body” (1 Corinthians 15:42). Romans 8:23 speaks of “the redemption of our body.”
Therefore, the gospel gives us hope beyond death. The body may return to dust, but death does not have the final word. Christ will raise His people.
   Being created in God's image means our existence has profound dignity and purpose. Our bodies matter. Our minds and emotions matter. Our spiritual relationship with God matters.
One day, Christ will redeem the whole person.
REFLECTION: Your present body is not your final destiny. In Christ, resurrection awaits.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the fear of death. Lord Jesus, strengthen my hope in the resurrection. Help me live faithfully in my body, love You with my whole being, and look forward to the day when You will raise and redeem Your people. Amen.

TOPIC: THE POWER OF GOD AS IN THE DAYS OF OLD

WHY ARE PREACHERS CALLED

- Preachers are not called to have church members, but raise disciples.

- If your target is to have church members, you will be unable to preach righteousness openly.

- Jesus preached the truth, and he had 72 disciples and 60 resigned. There were 3000 people in church that day, and Jesus ended it with 12, and he still asked them if they were also going to leave as well.

- Why is this so? Value for a thing is gotten from pursuit? Why are crude oil and gold so sought for? Because it is so valuable people have died trying to attain it.

- Things fell apart in Nigeria the moment pastors started chasing membership instead of discipleship.

- In the pursuit of membership, you will compromise.

- So as a parent and a teacher, teach them to be disciples, not members.

- A disciple is an embodiment of the gospel; if someone does not understand a certain thing about the gospel, you must be able to explain it.

CHRISTIANS VS BORN AGAIN

- Christians are a liability to a nation, while Born-Again people that change nations

- Another word for faith is loyalty. While the person is sick or poor, you remain there. Why? Because you can pray to change those situations.

- To be born again is to be led by the Spirit of God, and be ready to die for the truth.

- The born again is fearless and not afraid of dying because they are aware Heaven is far better than here, and because they are DEAD in Christ. A dead man is not afraid of death. They live without fear because God created all things, including Satan.

- The born again is called to be a witness; a martyr, a person ready to die for what you believe in. That is why they run from situations when things get tough.

- Complaining is for those not born-again. Born again people issue commands.

- The Born again christians starts the journey and never withdraws.

WHY YOU RECEIVE POWER

 - Power is only for those who will live their life completely along what the word says.

- Only for those willing to lay down their lives for the Gospel.

- The world is sick and tired of talk, they need POWER.

- Corinthians say that the word of God is not about words but the demonstration of power.

Luk 6:38  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. 

- Luke 6:38 is not talking about money, but surrender. The same way you surrender to God is the same way power surrenders to you. Ezekiel was told to get into a river, and he walked up to ankle at the beginning. The born again christian would dive in immediately.

- What we are told to give is your LIFE, and so if you serve God 30%, what you see will be 30%. God wants your life completely.

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 

- Here is why Paul is begging you. A person goes to a doctor and says they are sick, the doctor 

- He is begging because his and God’s reputation is at stake. 

Heb 10:38  Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 

- Faith is the belief in an unseen reality.

- The soul of God is the anointing of the Holy Ghost. 

- The essence of being given power if for the purpose of righteousness.

A SLIGHT DIGRESSION TO SHOW HOW FOOLISH CORRUPT POLITICIANS ARE.

Job 5:12  He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. 

Job 20:15  He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly. 

- The Asset Recovery Committee that will be formed after the elections will be formed of people that HATE corrupt politicians, looking for an opportunity to revenge, and GOD will give them that opportunity.

- There are people trapped in Benin Road for TWO WEEKS, and you are saying God will not punish these men? They will not be forgiven. Meanwhile the person in charge of that is traveling around the world in expenses of over billions of Naira.

- And as for those who are praying for these people to succeed, how can God answer the prayer of these people? God will never answer their prayers; if they ARE being answered, it will be by Satan.

- In less than one month of the inquisition beginning, that stolen money will be coughed up.

Eze 11:2  Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city: 

- These 25 men have assistants, children and people backing them out. So multiply that to around 2,500 people killing Nigeria.

Eze 11:3  Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh. 

- The money for roads? They are using it to build houses in Dubai.

Eze 11:9  And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you. 

- They will all of a sudden go on a vacation to somewhere they will be waiting for them. Why? Because if it is within Nigeria, their boys will gather to save them.

- “And I will cause foreigners to pick you up and jail you”.

- We need to go back to the ways our ancestors did things. In Abua, someone who stole something like yam, would have that yam tied around their neck, and children would parade them around the village. Some other sins were met with the elders placing a curse on you and exiling you from the village. Others resulted in death.

- We need to fight corruption, because it is witchcraft. How do we do this? Here are the consequences for such; reading and praying about it to these people will bring them upon them.

Rom 1:24  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 

Rom 1:25  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 

- What is the truth of God? John 17:17 says “For your word is truth”. This means they turned the Word of God into a lie, saying that the proof that you are blessed is to have money. This is why christians are so desperate to make money to prove that they are ‘blessed’. What makes you rich is not money, but that you have God. You can cast out demons, lay hands on the sick and they recover. You can work miracles.

- Meanwhile, Revelations 3:17 says that the so called rich people in Nigeria are poor; “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: ”

- Now is it true that Nigerian christians worship their pastors? The pastors will come in and people will kneel down?

Rom 1:26  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 

- Those that use words like “I pray by the God of pastor A or B” are guilty of the Sin of Samaria, an abomination of God. 

- SIDENOTE: THE SIN OF SAMARIA

Amo 8:11  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 

Amo 8:12  And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 

Amo 8:13  In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. 

Amo 8:14  They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again. 

-- The famine is hearing the word of God.  God says he will give them churches of foolishness in abundance, so that Born Again Christians will use them to learn.

-- Look at the way the world is laughing at Nigeria today; they now see everyone as a potential drug-pusher, chasing you from various countries and having your visas rejected and being deported.

-- God will make you run from program to program. Is that not what is happening in your prayer ministries?

-- At that time, there will be no 1 on 1 interaction; it will be a luxury. The pastors will be too busy to work with you. So cherish your relationships, because just like the prodigal son, when you lose it, you will never get the same kind of treatment ever again.

-- Those who say the “God of Bishop Dan” will FALL, because that is idol worship. Never you see yourself lesser than your pastor.

Rom 1:27  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 

- This is talking about homosexuality in the church.

Rom 1:28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 

- They have only one crime; hating God’s Word. These people SHOULD NOT be your friend, because you will teach you something wrong.

- A reprobate mind means that you CANNOT correct these people. Unbelief is a choice. Believing God is a choice because it requires responsibility and they do not want to be responsibility. They are not unbelievers, they are simply immoral. 

Rom 1:29  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 

Rom 1:30  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 

Rom 1:31  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 

- Can you see that they are immoral? See all the things things they do. What is the judgement for all these things? DEATH. So parents, no matter how painful, be quiet, and do not decree against, curse or insult them because Satan wants to kill that child. Instead, go and buy suya and makes sure there is plenty pepper and onion. This will make you cry and at the end of it, you will feel better. When you are going home, take small steps so it sinks well into your body.

Body, Spirit and Soul

Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:26–27; Genesis 2:7
“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…’” — Genesis 1:26, AMP
   Human beings are uniquely created in the image and likeness of God. The Bible reveals God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one God eternally existing in three Persons. While we must not conclude that human beings are literally three persons, Scripture does present humanity as having a remarkable complexity of body, soul, and spirit.
  Genesis 2:7 gives us the foundation: “Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
   The body is our physical existence. God formed it from the dust, and Ecclesiastes 12:7 says that at death “the dust returns to the earth as it was.”
   The spirit is associated with the life given by God and our capacity to relate to Him. James 2:26 declares, “The body without the spirit is dead.” Ecclesiastes 12:7 further says, “the spirit returns to God who gave it.”
    The soul refers to the living person—the self, personality, desires, emotions, will, and conscious life. Genesis 2:7 does not say that God placed a separate soul inside Adam; rather, Adam became a living being.
   This explains why Scripture says, “My soul thirsts for God” (Psalm 42:2), and Jesus said, “My soul is deeply grieved” (Matthew 26:38).
   Therefore, body, soul, and spirit describe different dimensions of human existence, yet they are not three independent beings.
REFLECTION: You are more than your body. You are a living person created by God, given life by Him, and designed for fellowship with Him.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to serve you in true holiness. Father, help me understand who You created me to be. Teach me to honor You with my body, cultivate my soul, and walk in fellowship with Your Spirit. Amen.

-REPLACE THE OLD PATTERN WITH A NEW LIFE+

:   “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2 (AMP)
    Breaking an evil pattern is not accomplished by prayer alone while continuing the behavior that produced the pattern. Spiritual transformation must produce practical transformation. James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the word, and not merely hearers.”
   Consider the example of Zacchaeus. His former life was characterized by dishonest financial practices, but after encountering Jesus, he demonstrated repentance through changed behavior (Luke 19:1–10). His encounter with Christ created a new lifestyle.    Likewise, the household of Joshua received a new spiritual direction when he declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15).
   God's Word must therefore become the foundation of a new family culture. Replace anger with forgiveness, dishonesty with integrity, irresponsibility with discipline, hatred with love, and financial recklessness with wise stewardship., Idleness and laziness with hard work , Pessimism with optimism, Fear with faith . Teach children God's principles so that the next generation inherits truth rather than trauma, wisdom rather than destructive habits, and faith rather than fear.
   Daily Speak God's Word over your household. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” But biblical declaration is not magical speech; it is faith-filled agreement with God's revealed truth, accompanied by obedience.
Above all, remember that your identity is in Christ. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17).    The goal is not to live in fear of ancestral powers but in confidence in Christ's redemption.

Scripture: “Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.” — Lamentations 3:40 (AMP)
   Every family and community has patterns. Some are healthy and worth preserving; others are destructive and must be confronted. Repeated poverty, addiction, violence, marital breakdown, bitterness, illnesses, deaths , dishonesty, or spiritual rebellion should not simply be accepted as “the way our family is.” Scripture calls us to examine our ways and recognize the devices of the enemy (2 Corinthians 2:11). Satan deceives people into breaking spiritual laws and then strikes them ( Prov. 29:1, Prov 13;13, 1 John 5:18)
   The first step toward freedom is honest identification. Examine your family history without blaming your ancestors or living in fear. Ask: What destructive behaviors have repeatedly appeared? What attitudes have been transmitted from one generation to another? What ungodly traditions have influenced our decisions?
    The second step is choosing a new allegiance. Joshua declared, “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15). He understood that transformation required a deliberate decision to serve God rather than continue in ungodly practices.
    For the Christian, ancestral history does not have the final authority. Jesus Christ does. Galatians 3:13 declares that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, while 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that anyone in Christ is a new creation.
Therefore, renounce every ungodly practice, belief, tradition, and agreement that contradicts God's Word. Do not merely say, “This runs in my family.” Declare instead, “My family will serve the Lord.”
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and a teachable heart that loves truth.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome evil patterns. Lord Jesus, expose every destructive pattern that must end with me. Give me courage to reject ungodly traditions and establish my life and household upon Your Word. Amen.

Good -Life Devotional: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CURSE AND A PATTERN

   The key difference is spiritual authority versus learned or repeated behavior.

A CURSE is a pronouncement or consequence associated with wrongdoing, disobedience, or judgment ( examples Acts 5:1-10,Acts 13:6-11) 

A PATTERN is a repeated behavior, habit, circumstance, or way of thinking within a family or environment (Example Titus 1:12)

It is understood in biblical contexts as having a spiritual or covenant dimension.

It may have psychological, social, cultural, economic, or behavioral causes.

Example: the curse associated with breaking God's covenant (Deuteronomy 28:15).

Example: children learning anger,  dishonesty, addiction, or poor financial habits, stubbornness and disrespect from parents.

   The gospel addresses the believer's spiritual standing through Christ's redemption (Galatians 3:13).

  Patterns may still require intentional change, wisdom, discipline, counseling, and renewed thinking.

  The emphasis on curses is on deliverance and redemption.

While the emphasis on patterns is on transformation and breaking unhealthy habits.

AN IMPORTANT BIBLICAL DISTINCTION

A pattern is not automatically a curse. If several generations in a family experience divorce, poverty, deaths,  alcoholism, or violence, that does not by itself prove that a supernatural curse is operating.

   For example, a child raised in an environment where anger and disrespect is normal may learn the same behavior. When that child becomes a parent, the behavior can be passed to the next generation. That is a generational pattern, not necessarily a generational curse. It comes with consequences ( Proverbs 29:1) 

   This fits Romans 12:2: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The Christian is called to recognize unhealthy patterns and replace them with biblical ways of thinking and living.

   In short: Curses concern spiritual judgment or bondage; patterns concern repeated behaviors and circumstances. Christ gives the believer freedom from condemnation and bondage, while discipleship helps the believer overcome destructive patterns..

    Generational curses do not apply to a born-again Christian because the redemptive work of Jesus Christ completely breaks any claim of past ancestral bondage.
WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES:
-NEW CREATION: According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, anyone in Christ is a new creation; old things have passed away and all things have become new.
REDEMPTION FROM THE LAW: Galatians 3:13 states that Christ redeemed believers from the curse of the laws of Moses by becoming a curse for them.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY: As outlined in Ezekiel 18:20, individuals are accountable for their own choices and do not bear the permanent spiritual guilt or punishment for their parents' sins.
WHY PATTERNS STILL SEEM TO REPEAT
1) LEARNED BEHAVIORS: Family struggles like poverty, divorce, or addiction often stem from learned habits and generational trauma rather than a lingering spiritual curse.
2) UNRENEWED MINDS: Believers can experience ongoing challenges if they have not yet aligned their thoughts and daily lives with biblical truth (Romans 12:
3) DIFFERING VIEWS: This is where some believers argue that extra spiritual deliverance or personal growth is necessary to walk out complete freedom, while mainstream theological consensus maintains that salvation in Christ is absolute and immediate.

LIVE IN THE LIGHT OF ETERNITY

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:1–11

     The promise of an eternal dwelling should change the way we live today. Paul continues in 2 Corinthians 5 by explaining that while we are in this earthly body, we “walk by faith, not by sight” (verse 7). The Christian hope is not an excuse to neglect life on earth; rather, it gives earthly life its deepest meaning.

   An apologetic question often asked is: If Christians believe in heaven, why should what they do on earth matter? Paul answers this clearly. In verse 10, he declares that “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” Eternal life is therefore connected to moral responsibility. Our actions matter because our lives belong to God.

   Paul also says, “We make it our aim… to be pleasing to Him” (verse 9). The evidence of genuine faith is not merely religious language, church attendance, or public confession. True faith produces a life that seeks to please God. Knowing that we will stand before Christ should inspire holiness, integrity, compassion, and righteousness.

    Paul adds, “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men” (verse 11). This reveals the urgency of the gospel. Christians are called not only to prepare themselves for eternity but also to lovingly persuade others to be reconciled to God.

    One day, every earthly possession, title, and achievement will be left behind. The body we now occupy is temporary, but eternity is permanent. Therefore, do not build your entire life around what will perish. Invest in what cannot be destroyed.

REFLECTION: If your earthly tent were taken down today, are you prepared for the house not made with human hands?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the fear of death .

 Lord, help me to live by faith, walk in righteousness, and remain conscious of eternity. Let my life please You and draw others to Christ. Amen.

Bible text : 2 Corinthians 5:1–11
   The Christian faith makes a bold claim: death is not the end of human existence. In 2 Corinthians 5:1, Paul writes, “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” This passage presents one of Christianity's strongest answers to the question, What happens after death?
   Paul describes the human body as a temporary tent. A tent is useful, but it is not permanent. It can grow weak, wear out, and eventually collapse. In the same way, our physical bodies experience aging, sickness, weakness, and ultimately death. Yet the temporary nature of the body does not mean that human life itself is meaningless or that death destroys the person.
    The gospel declares that there is more to man than dust and biological processes. We are created by God for relationship with Him and for eternity. Paul confidently speaks of a heavenly dwelling prepared by God—a house not made with human hands. Human beings can construct houses, monuments, and civilizations, but only God can provide eternal life.
    This is where the Christian worldview differs fundamentally from the idea that death simply erases consciousness forever. The resurrection of Jesus Christ provides the foundation for Christian hope. Christ conquered death, and those who belong to Him have the assurance that mortality will not have the final word.
   Therefore, believers need not live as prisoners of fear. Our earthly tent may weaken, but our eternal future is secure in God. We are pilgrims here, but heaven is not a human invention—it is the promise of the living God.

  God is not against church gatherings, conventions, offerings, or sacrifices when they flow from genuine faith and obedience. What He rejects is empty religion—outward activity without inward transformation. The prophet Micah summarized God's desire: “What does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8).
   True peace and stability cannot be purchased with offerings while corruption, violence, dishonesty, oppression, and immorality continue unchecked. Isaiah 32:17 declares, “The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” Righteousness produces what money, political power, religious ceremonies, and human wisdom cannot produce: lasting peace.
   Jesus also said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). God's order is clear: righteousness first. When individuals, families, churches, and nations embrace God's ways, the foundation for genuine prosperity and security is established.
Isaiah 1:19 gives us another powerful promise: “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” Obedience is the pathway to enjoying God's blessings. We must therefore pray, not merely for miracles, but for transformed hearts. We need a healthy appetite for God's Word and the courage to preach righteousness without compromise.
    Our daily prayer should be: “Lord, make me hungry for Your truth. Give me power to resist temptation. Make me bold to live and proclaim righteousness.”
    A righteous church can influence a nation. Let us therefore return to repentance, obedience, truth, justice, and holiness.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, forgive me for my sins against You. I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again for my salvation. I receive Him as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and give me power to overcome temptation. Create in me a hunger for Your Word and boldness to preach and live in righteousness. Let my life bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  -God Desires Righteousness Above Religious Activity-

   Many people assume that organizing church conventions, seminars, conferences, vigils, and presenting sacrifices automatically pleases God. Religious activity, however, is not necessarily evidence of spiritual transformation. In Isaiah 1, God spoke strongly against a people who continued their religious practices while living in rebellion. He lamented, “Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity” (Isaiah 1:4). Their worship continued, but their society was spiritually sick.

Isaiah 1:7 says, “Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire.” The lesson is sobering: religious ceremonies cannot compensate for national and personal unrighteousness. A nation may have churches everywhere and yet suffer corruption, insecurity, violence, poverty, and injustice if the people refuse to embrace God's righteous standards.

   Jesus Christ began His public ministry with a direct message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). Repentance means turning away from sin and returning to God. Unfortunately, the message of repentance is sometimes replaced with messages that merely stimulate covetousness. People are encouraged to pursue financial miracles while ignoring holiness, integrity, justice, and obedience.

But 2 Peter 2:5 describes Noah as “a preacher of righteousness.” Noah's generation perished because they rejected God's righteous standard. This reveals an important truth: God is not impressed by outward religion when the heart remains unrepentant.

   The church must never substitute conventions for conversion, sacrifices for obedience, or offerings for righteousness. God desires transformed lives. Let us hunger for His Word and boldly proclaim the message that Jesus preached: Repent and return to God.

COMFORTED TO COMFORT OTHERS

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:3–10

   The Christian life does not mean we will never suffer. Even the Apostle Paul experienced intense trials. He wrote that he and his companions were “burdened beyond measure, above strength,” so much that they even despaired of life (2 Corinthians 1:8). Yet their suffering did not prove that God had abandoned them. Rather, it taught them to depend upon God, “who raises the dead” (verse 9).

      Paul calls God “the Father of mercies and God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3). This reveals a beautiful truth: God comforts us in our troubles so that we may comfort others who are facing similar afflictions. Sometimes the pain you survive becomes the testimony that strengthens someone else.

   Joseph suffered betrayal before becoming a deliverer. David experienced persecution before becoming king. Paul endured imprisonment, rejection, beatings, and hardship, yet his trials produced encouragement for generations. Your present affliction may be preparing you to become a source of strength to others.

    The Bible does not deny suffering, but it repeatedly declares God's faithfulness in the midst of it. “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed” (2 Corinthians 4:8). “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholds him” (Psalm 37:24).

Therefore, do not waste your suffering by allowing bitterness to take root. Cast your burden upon the Lord. Receive His comfort. Then allow your testimony to become encouragement to someone else.

   Remember: many may be the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord is still the Deliverer. Your burden may be heavy, but your God is greater. The battle may be intense, but comfort, deliverance, and restoration are available in Christ.

Father of mercies, comfort me in every trial and use my testimony to strengthen others. I trust You to deliver me and sustain me. Amen.

The God Who Delivers Our Soul
Scripture Reading: Psalm 55:18, 22; 2 Corinthians 1:3–10
“He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me...” — Psalm 55:18
   Life is filled with battles that are sometimes invisible to others. There are battles of fear, anxiety, disappointment, grief, financial pressure, betrayal, and spiritual conflict. A person may smile publicly while carrying a heavy battle within the soul. David understood this experience. Yet he declared, “He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me” (Psalm 55:18).
   God does not merely see the outward battle; He sees the conflict within us. He knows the sleepless nights, silent tears, unanswered questions, and burdens we cannot explain to anyone. Therefore, Psalm 55:22 gives us a divine invitation: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you.” God never intended us to carry alone what only His grace can sustain.
   The righteous are not promised a life without trouble. Scripture says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all” (Psalm 34:19). Jesus also said, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
   Casting your burden means transferring the weight from your shoulders to God's hands. It means praying instead of panicking, trusting instead of surrendering to despair. “Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
  Today, do not allow the battle within you to destroy your peace. Bring it to Jesus. The One who redeemed David's soul is still able to deliver yours.

Lord, I cast every burden upon You today. Deliver my soul from every battle within me and fill me with Your peace. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 42:5–11
   The psalmist repeatedly asks, “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God.” This passage is a powerful apologetic against the claim that faith in God means believers never experience fear, depression, discouragement, or emotional pain.    The Bible does not hide human suffering; rather, it reveals how faith responds to it.
   The writer of Psalm 42 felt overwhelmed. His tears had become his food, and enemies questioned him, saying, “Where is your God?” Yet his emotional condition did not become evidence that God had abandoned him. He spoke to his own soul and redirected his hope toward God. Faith is not pretending that pain does not exist; faith is refusing to let pain have the final word.
   Notice the psalmist's declaration: “Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him.” His circumstances had not yet changed, but his confidence was anchored in the character of God. This is the heart of biblical apologetics: Christianity does not deny the reality of suffering; it explains that suffering exists in a fallen world while God remains present, purposeful, and faithful.
   When doubts arise and your heart becomes troubled, remember God's past faithfulness. David said, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord” (Psalm 27:13). Jesus also promised, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
   Speak to your soul today: Hope in God. Your present sorrow is not the end of your story. You shall yet praise Him!

-Overcoming The Giants Before Us-
“For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].” — 1 John 5:4
   David's victory over Goliath demonstrates that God gives victory to those who trust Him rather than their natural abilities. Israel's army saw a giant; David saw a defeated enemy standing against the Almighty God. Goliath trusted his size, weapons, and experience, but David declared, “The battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands” (1 Samuel 17:47).
    David understood that victory does not depend upon human strength. He had no sword, armour, or military advantage. Yet he possessed faith in the living God. With a sling and a stone, David defeated the champion of the Philistines because the power behind David was greater than the giant before him.
    This is the principle of 1 John 5:4: “This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” Faith connects us to God's ability. It enables us to face circumstances without being controlled by them. “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).
    Whatever your Goliath may be—fear, opposition, lack, persecution, or an impossible situation—remember that God has not called you to face it alone. “No weapon that is formed against you will succeed” (Isaiah 54:17), and “In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
   Do not measure your problem against your strength. Measure it against the greatness of God. Stand in faith, speak His Word, and refuse to surrender.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the fear of failure .
Lord Jesus, thank You for making me an overcomer. Strengthen my faith and give me courage to face every giant, knowing that the victory belongs to You. Amen.

-Victory Through Faith in God-

  “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory [as conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57
   The Christian life is not a promise of a life without battles; it is the assurance that God gives His people victory in the midst of their battles. The greatest victory Christ secured was victory over sin, death, and the grave. Paul declares, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Therefore, believers do not fight merely hoping to win; through Christ, we stand from the position of His accomplished victory.
   King Jehoshaphat experienced this truth when Judah faced a terrifying alliance of enemies. Humanly speaking, the situation was impossible. But Jehoshaphat prayed, fasted, and acknowledged, “We have no power… nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You” (2 Chronicles 20:12). God answered: “The battle is not yours but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15).
   Their victory did not come through military strength. As they obeyed God and began to praise Him, confusion entered the enemy camp, and the opposing armies destroyed one another (2 Chronicles 20:22–23). Judah simply witnessed the salvation of the Lord.
   Faith does not deny the reality of opposition; faith declares the greater reality of God's power. “If God is for us, who can be successful against us?” (Romans 8:31). Whatever battle confronts you today, do not surrender to fear. Pray, believe, obey, and keep your eyes upon the Lord.

Father, thank You for giving me victory through Jesus Christ. Teach me to trust You in every battle and to stand firm in faith. Amen.
