THE SAINTS HAVE THE HONOUR TO EXECUTE THE JUDGMENT WRITTEN

The anointing of God's favour upon you will set confusion in the camp of the enemy.

Good-Life Devotional:  THE SAINTS HAVE THE HONOUR TO EXECUTE THE JUDGMENT WRITTEN

Psalm 149:7–9 declares that the saints have the honour “to execute vengeance upon the heathen… to execute upon them the judgment written.” Throughout Scripture, God consistently uses human vessels to carry out His righteous sentences against ungodliness. This is one of the mysteries behind the Incarnation—“The Word became flesh” (John 1:14). God took on human flesh so that judgment against sin, Satan, and wickedness would be executed legally through a Man (Acts 17:31).

Ecclesiastes 8:11 warns that evil thrives when judgment is not speedily executed. Jesus reaffirmed this principle when He entrusted judicial authority to His disciples in John 20:23. The Greek word for 'remit' in that verse is (aphiēmi) it means to release, cancel, send away, while 'retain' (krateō) means to hold fast, restrain, keep bound. Christ authorized His church to release or bind guilt, consequences, and spiritual forces in accordance with the written Word.

The apostles applied this authority. In Acts 5, Peter executed divine judgment on Ananias and Sapphira for lying to the Holy Spirit. In Acts 13:5–11, Paul struck Elymas blind for perverting the ways of the Lord. Paul even passed judgment without being physically present in 1 Corinthians 5, commanding the church to act in alignment with Scripture.

Prophets also executed judgment. Isaiah prophesied the downfall of the Assyrian king (2 Kings 19:29–37). Ezekiel did likewise when leaders shed innocent blood (Ezekiel 11:2–12). God told him, “Prophesy against them” (v. 4). Isaiah 5:20 warns that those who sponsor injustice and destroy God’s people will suffer collateral judgment, and verses 26–29 show terror visiting the wicked and their supporters .

Therefore, born-again believers are God’s earthly agents to enforce divine order. As long as we act according to the judgment written, we continue Christ’s work of establishing righteousness, defending the innocent, and confronting wickedness in our generation.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and quick execution of divine justice against the unrepentantly wicked .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to preach righteousness.
