UNHOLY ALLIANCES COMPROMISE OUR DIVINE SECURITY

The evil verdict against you shall be overturned because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good -Life Devotional: UNHOLY ALLIANCES COMPROMISE OUR DIVINE SECURITY

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Scripture repeatedly warns that ungodly alliances weaken divine protection and expose God’s people to unnecessary danger. A vivid example is the alliance between King Jehoshaphat, a righteous ruler, and King Ahab of Israel, a notoriously wicked man (2 Chronicles 18:1–3). Though Jehoshaphat feared the Lord, his decision to join himself with Ahab in battle brought him to the brink of death. The enemy surrounded him, and he escaped only by God’s mercy (2 Chronicles 18:31). This shows that even good people can suffer harm when they bind themselves to those who rebel against God.
Isaiah 30:1–2 underscores this truth: “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “that take counsel, but not of Me… that walk to go down into Egypt and have not asked My mouth.” Israel trusted Egypt for military help rather than seeking God, forming an alliance that brought shame and destruction. Many lives were lost because the people preferred human strength over divine direction. A friend to a terrorists is seen as one and will receive the divine purnisment given to terrorists.
The pattern continues throughout Scripture. King Amaziah formed an alliance with Israel’s troops, but God rebuked him, saying the Lord was not with the northern kingdom (2 Chronicles 25:7–9). The psalmist warns, “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes” (Psalm 118:8–9). Paul reinforces this principle in the New Testament: “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers” (2 Corinthians 6:14) referring to emotional involvement with a hater of Jesus Christ and the scriptures.
Unholy alliances compromise divine security, distort spiritual discernment, and bring unnecessary loss. True safety lies in aligning with God’s will, seeking His counsel, and partnering only with those who walk in righteousness.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and deliverance from ungodly relationships.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome temptation.
