Good -Life Devotional: SEEKING HELP IN THE DAY OF BATTLE AGAINST TERRORISM ( PART 1)
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
In the battles of life—spiritual, political, or national—God never intended His people to stand alone. Scripture repeatedly shows the wisdom of seeking help when confronting overwhelming enemies. Even the mighty patriarch Abraham, a man of faith and covenant, understood this truth. When the four kings invaded the cities of the plain and carried away captives, the King of Sodom appealed to Abraham for help (Genesis 14:8–12). Abraham did not reject him; instead, he mobilized his 318 trained men and pursued the terrorists who had ravaged the land, rescuing the captives and restoring what was lost (Genesis 14:14–16).
This account teaches that seeking help is not weakness—it is wisdom. Proverbs 24:6 says, “For by wise counsel you shall wage your war.” Terrorism is wickedness empowered by spiritual darkness, and Scripture warns us that “the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). No nation, church, or individual is designed to fight such forces alone.
Even Israel, God’s chosen nation, at times cried out for help. When Jehoshaphat was overwhelmed, he confessed, “We have no might against this great company… but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12). God answered and sent supernatural intervention. During the Yon kippur War (1973) . America carried out Operation Nickel Grass, a military air to Isreal . Prime minister Golda Meir of Isreal cried out to US president Nixon for help during the Arab- Isreal war and they found help from the USA.
In spiritual warfare, humility opens the door to divine and human assistance. Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 reminds us, “Two are better than one… for if they fall, one will lift up the other.” Terrorism thrives where isolation exists, but unity and cooperation break its power.
Today, whether a nation is under siege or a believer is under attack, the principle remains: seek help—from God, from righteous allies, and from wise counselors. Victory belongs to those who understand that strength is multiplied through partnership ordained by God.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and humility to ask for help .
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and grace to find help when in trouble.
