PRAGMATIC APPROACH TO FOOD SECURITY

You shall eat and be satisfied regardless of the economy because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional:

 PRAGMATIC APPROACH TO  FOOD SECURITY

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Jeremiah 29:5 "Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;"

The lord commanded his people in the land of their captivity to grow their food to ensure food security , increase and stability.

If Every Nigerian had access to affordable healthy and nutritious food , there would be less complaints and less diseasea in the society.

Over 60% of earnings by the middle class goes to buying food giving no room for savings and investments. This is a major cause of marital failure and it is unacceptable before God. Imagine if every Christian grew a food crop or lifestock. Hunger will be a thing of the past and we would have a healthier and more prosperous church .

Food security within the church is a reflection of its commitment to fulfilling both physical and spiritual needs. Drawing inspiration from the biblical examples of King Solomon and King Jehoshaphat, the church can exemplify the importance of ensuring access to nutritious food for its members and the wider community.

King Solomon's wisdom encompassed not only matters of governance but also the well-being of his people. In 1 Kings 4:20-28, his reign is described as a time of abundance, where food was plentiful, and the population thrived. This narrative underscores the responsibility of church leaders to prioritize the physical sustenance of their congregations, mirroring Solomon's efforts to ensure food security for his kingdom.

Similarly, King Jehoshaphat's reign exemplifies the church's role in addressing food insecurity during times of crisis. In 2 Chronicles 20:25-26, Jehoshaphat faced imminent threats from enemy nations but emerged victorious through divine intervention. Following this deliverance, his kingdom experienced peace and prosperity. By prioritizing food security initiatives, the church can emulate Jehoshaphat's leadership in providing stability and reassurance to its members during challenging times.

The church's commitment to food security extends beyond its immediate congregation to the wider community. Just as Solomon and Jehoshaphat's administrations benefited all citizens, the church has a moral obligation to address food insecurity among the marginalized and vulnerable. Matthew 25:35 reminds believers to feed the hungry, illustrating the integral connection between spiritual faith and practical acts of compassion.

The examples of King Solomon and King Jehoshaphat serve as models for the church's role in promoting food security. By prioritizing the physical well-being of its members and extending support to the broader community, the church embodies the teachings of compassion and stewardship found in the scriptures. Through collective efforts grounded in faith and action, the church can contribute to building a more just and equitable society where all have access to the sustenance they need to thrive.

Prayer: Heavenly father forgive me of my sins against you , I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to demolish poverty . Amen
