Good -Life Devotional:

ENTER THROUGH THE STRAIGHT GATE

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

The concept of the "straight gate" draws from Jesus' teaching in Matthew 7:13-23, where He urges His followers to enter through the narrow gate, warning that the wide gate leads to destruction and many are on that path. Many Christians do not have a personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. They follow signs of wonders instead of being followed by signs and wonders . Every true follower of Jesus Christ walks in signs and wonders. The bible says Mark 16:17

"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  .." this is synonymous with those on the narrow gate . It is not popular but true . Ask the average Christians or religious persons " how does your God look like " many have no answer . How can you be a worshiper of someone you cannot identify. That was the situation with most religions. They worship an unknown God ( Acts 17:23) because it is a popular thing to do and the fact that there is a large followership. Fame does not translate to God's approval. In Romans 9:27

[27]Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:"

'The narrow gate represents the way of righteousness, discipleship, and a life aligned with God's will. It requires effort, self-denial, and commitment, but it leads to eternal life. Jesus also cautions about false prophets, outwardly appearing righteous but inwardly corrupt, emphasizing that true followers will be known by their fruits—actions reflective of their faith.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12, Paul echoes this warning, describing how those who reject the truth will be deceived by false signs and wonders. God allows this delusion because they refuse to love the truth, choosing instead to believe lies. This parallels the broad path of destruction, where people follow error instead of truth.

2 Peter 2:1-7 further develops this theme by speaking of false teachers who secretly introduce destructive heresies. Their judgment is certain, just as God judged the wicked in the past. However, Peter assures that God also knows how to rescue the godly, such as He did with Lot and Noah, reinforcing the importance of pursuing the narrow way.

In your daily prayers seek to have a better understanding and healthy appetite for  God's word and a closer walk with his Holy Spirit .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome temptation.
