SEVEN WAYS A BAD ECONOMY AND GOVERNANCE DESTROYS MARFIAGES

Your family shall not fall apart but wax strong in love and overwhelming peace because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional:

SEVEN WAYS A BAD ECONOMY AND GOVERNANCE DESTROYS MARFIAGES

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Isaiah 4:1-2

[1]And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

[2]In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel."

The bible predicts that there shall come a time when polygamy shall be a popular choice amongst women due to economic hardship brought about sin and bad governance.

A healthy family is God's plan for humanity and draws people to him . Satan hates healthy families. Satan's strategy to destroy the family system includes promoting bad governance through a failed electoral process.  God's people should rise against this .

Failure to do so comes with devastating effects on the marriage institution.

A poor national economy can have a significant impact on marriages. Here are seven ways this occurs, along with related Bible verses:

1. Financial Stress: Economic hardship increases financial stress, which can strain relationships. Proverbs 22:7 reminds us, “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.”

2. Delayed Marriages: When jobs are scarce, couples often delay marriage, fearing they cannot afford it. Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.”

3. Increased Divorce Rates: Economic pressures can lead to divorce, as financial instability often causes conflict. 1 Timothy 6:10 warns, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.”

4. Inability to Provide: Men may feel inadequate if they cannot provide for their families, leading to relationship struggles. 1 Timothy 5:8 states, “Anyone who does not provide for their relatives… has denied the faith.”

5. Weakened Family Ties: Economic hardship forces many to migrate for work, leading to separation. Matthew 19:6 reminds us, “What God has joined together, let no one separate.”

6. Health Issues: Poverty leads to stress-related health problems that can strain marriages. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

7. Loss of Hope: Prolonged financial hardship can lead to hopelessness, affecting relationships. Proverbs 13:12 states, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.”

Trust in God is key in facing these challenges . In your daily prayers seek for deliverance from bad governance and for the prevalence of a righteous culture in society and connect with a pastor who shall be praying for your economy on a regular basis.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome poverty.
