EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE OF GOD GIVES FREEDOM. ( PART 1)

The crooked paths shall be made strait because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional:

EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE OF GOD GIVES FREEDOM. ( PART 1)

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. "

The word 'Know ' is the Greek word 'ginōskō' it means to be aware , feel , perceive . The truth of God's word  has to be real to a person as real as the person is to himself or herself for it to release it's liberating power .  It is for the reason that we should seek for the knowledge of God's word in the bible with understanding.

Epignosis (ἐπίγνωσις) is a Greek term found in the New Testament, translated as "knowledge" but with a deeper implication. Unlike simple knowledge (gnosis), epignosis refers to a full, precise, or experiential knowledge. It's often used in the context of the knowledge of God or spiritual truths, signifying a more profound, intimate understanding that comes through relationship and revelation, not just intellectual learning.

In verses like Colossians 1:9 and 2 Peter 1:3, epignosis is used to emphasize the completeness and transformative nature of this knowledge. It indicates not just knowing about something but being fully acquainted with it, often through personal experience.

Here are a few key New Testament passages where epignosis (ἐπίγνωσις) is used, particularly from the Amplified Bible (AMP) as you prefer:

1. Colossians 1:9-10 (AMP)

"For this reason, since the day we heard about it, we have not stopped praying for you, asking [specifically] that you may be filled with the knowledge (epignosis) of His will in all spiritual wisdom [with insight into His purposes], and in understanding [of spiritual things], so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord [displaying admirable character, moral courage, and personal integrity], to [fully] please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing in the knowledge (epignosis) of God [with deeper faith, clearer insight, and fervent love for His precepts]."

Here, epignosis refers to a profound, intimate knowledge of God's will and character, leading to a transformed life.

In our daily prayers we should seek for the spirit of wisdom and revelation of God's word and zeal to preach the gospel to a dying world .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to preach the gospel with signs and wonders following.
