Text: Isaiah 5:1-15
   The prophet Isaiah warned of a coming season of judgment upon a people who neglected God despite His abundant blessings. Isaiah 5 reveals that one major cause of captivity was not merely military weakness or economic hardship, but a tragic lack of spiritual knowledge. “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge…” (Isaiah 5:13). This ignorance was not accidental; it was cultivated by a generation that prioritized pleasure over the teaching of God’s Word.
   Isaiah described people who delighted in banquets, music, and social celebrations while disregarding the works of God (Isaiah 5:12). In the same way today, many professing Christians spend heavily on ceremonies, entertainment, and personal comfort while neglecting the support of missionaries, Bible teachers, and sound doctrinal instruction. Yet Scripture commands believers to support the teaching ministry. Galatians 6:6 declares, “Let him who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches.” Likewise, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 teaches systematic giving for the work of God.
    When the teaching ministry is neglected, genuine teachers become frustrated, exhausted, and rejected. Paul experienced this in Galatia and cried out, “Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?” (Galatians 4:16). The same tragedy is visible in Nigeria and many African nations today. There is a growing scarcity of teachers of sound doctrine, while false teachings, superstition, occultism, and demonic oppression increase rapidly.
    Hosea 4:6 warns, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Spiritual ignorance eventually produces societal collapse. Terrorism, moral decay, corruption, and violence flourish where righteousness is no longer taught with authority.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to promote the gospel , Lord, raise faithful teachers of righteousness and awaken Your people to value the ministry of Your Word in Jesus’ name.
