CHRISTIAN CHARACTER HAS NO SUBSTITUTE

The yoke of confusion and stagnation is broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional:

CHRISTIAN CHARACTER HAS NO SUBSTITUTE

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Christian character, rooted in godly principles, is irreplaceable in shaping individuals and nations. The story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:13-15) illustrates the dire consequences of neglecting character. Driven by self-indulgence, the son squandered his inheritance, plunging into poverty and despair. His downfall wasn't just financial; it stemmed from a lack of virtues such as wisdom, discipline, and gratitude.

Romans 5:3-5 reminds us that suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope. This process underscores that Christian character is not formed in comfort but through trials. The prodigal son’s hardship ultimately led him to repentance and restoration, teaching us that godly character can redeem even the worst situations.

In Ephesians 4:2, believers are called to live with humility, patience, and love—qualities that build personal integrity and harmonious societies. Ephesians 4:24-32 urges us to put on the new self, created to be like God in righteousness and holiness, forsaking anger, bitterness, and malice. Without these virtues, both individuals and nations suffer moral and social decay.

Proverbs 14:34 declares, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” A nation’s prosperity is deeply tied to its citizens embodying Christian values like honesty, kindness, and justice. Isaiah 1:17 further emphasizes the importance of seeking justice, defending the oppressed, and caring for the vulnerable.

Christian character is more than a personal virtue; it is a societal cornerstone. Without it, neither individuals nor nations can truly thrive. Let us pursue righteousness, for it brings enduring prosperity and peace.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and the determination to develop Christian Character.

PRAYER . Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome poverty .
