Good -Life Devotional: THE PRAYERS OF THE RIGHTEOUS ARE VERY POWERFUL

    The Bible emphasizes the power of the prayers of the righteous in transforming lives and situations. James 5:16 declares, “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” This verse underscores that righteousness before God is essential for effective prayer. However, sin is a significant hindrance to this power, as seen in Zechariah 3:1-7.

    In this passage, Satan accuses Joshua the high priest, who stands in filthy garments—a symbol of human righteousness, as Isaiah 64:6 describes it as "like filthy rags." Satan resists Joshua because of the sin represented by these garments, but God intervenes, rebukes Satan, and commands that Joshua’s filthy clothes be removed, replacing them with clean, rich robes. This signifies God’s provision of righteousness through His grace.

Isaiah 59:1-2 reveals the obstacle sin presents: “The LORD's hand is not so short that it cannot save, nor His ear so impaired that it cannot hear. But your wickedness has separated you from your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you.” To have powerful prayers, believers must seek forgiveness, living in alignment with God’s will.

Proverbs 15:29 assures us, “The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.” When we are clothed in Christ’s righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21), our prayers become effective. By walking in obedience and holiness, we align ourselves with God, and our prayers release His power to accomplish His purposes.

 In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and commitment to live in righteousness.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to live a righteous life .
