GOD'S COVENANT TO PROVIDE DURING HARD TIMES

Your family shall not lack in hard times because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good-Life Devotional: GOD'S COVENANT TO PROVIDE DURING HARD TIMES

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Psalms 23:1 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."

God's covenant to provide during hard times is a recurring theme in the Bible, offering believers assurance and hope. This divine promise is woven through scripture, demonstrating God's unwavering commitment to care for His people even in their darkest moments.

One of the most prominent examples is found in the story of Elijah during a severe famine. In 1 Kings 17:6, it is written, "The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook." This passage illustrates God's miraculous provision, ensuring Elijah's needs were met despite the harsh circumstances.

God's covenant is further emphasized in Psalm 37:25, where David declares, "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread." This verse reassures believers that God’s provision is not just a temporary measure but a lifelong promise. Even in times of scarcity, God ensures that His faithful are sustained.

In the New Testament, Jesus reinforces this promise. In Matthew 6:31-33, He advises, "So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’... But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Jesus emphasizes that trust in God and prioritizing His kingdom will result in the fulfillment of our essential needs.

Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, echoes this assurance: "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). This statement encapsulates the comprehensive nature of God's provision, grounded in the richness of His glory through Christ.

These scriptures collectively underscore that God's covenant to provide is not conditional on the absence of hardship but is especially poignant during difficult times. Believers are encouraged to rely on God's faithfulness, trusting that He will provide, as He has promised, ensuring their needs are met regardless of the circumstances.

Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to get wealth . Amen
