SAY 'RESTORE ' INSTEAD OF ' IT IS WELL'

That which was stolen shall be restored because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional: SAY 'RESTORE ' INSTEAD OF ' IT IS WELL'

   By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Isaiah 42:21-24

" The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?

Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.'

The Book of Isaiah is a compilation of prophecies attributed to the prophet Isaiah, who lived in the 8th century BCE. Isaiah 42 is one of the prophetic passages in this book. It's believed to be written during the Babylonian exile, around the 6th century BCE, a time when the Israelites were experiencing turmoil and seeking hope.

Isaiah 42 is particularly notable because it contains a description of a servant of God, often interpreted by Christians as a prophecy about Jesus Christ. The passage describes this servant as someone who brings justice to the nations and establishes a new covenant. We are to pursue amd promote equity and justice as followers of Jesus Christ.

The word 'Restore' is the Hebrew word 'shoob' it means to feed, refresh , carry home. In summary , to help in their extremities.

The African church has been trained to say " it is well" when faced with adversities. This leaves a person with a defeatist spirit . It is not God's will that we be in any form of bondage and he will do according to our confession. (Numbers 14;28). Saying it is well worsens the situation by maintaining the status quo , Conversely, telling the enemy restore results in our deliverance.

False prophets were chastised for promising peace where there was none.

Ezekiel 13:10 "Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:" there cannot be peace without integrity and justice in the society ( Isaiah 32:17)

Situations will only change for the better when we say 'Restore' instead of 'It is well.'

The African church has become poorer through the teaching of the 'It is well doctrine.' It is not of God.

Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome poverty .Amen.
