TRUE CHRISTIANITY HAS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR POVERTY IN THE SOCIETY

Doors are being unlocked in high places because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional:

TRUE CHRISTIANITY HAS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR POVERTY IN THE SOCIETY

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Psalms 140:4 "Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings."

The above scripture highlights the fact that poverty is tool used to pull people away from the church . Satan has people in positions of influence whose assignment is to create poverty by profiteering .This discourages many persons from following Jesus and embracing evil cults that promise them riches .

The church has a responsibility to frustrate the devil's schemes. The bible says Job 5:12 " He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise."

True Christianity embodies a spirit of sacrificial giving and communal sharing, where nothing is held as personal property. This principle is deeply rooted in the teachings of Jesus and the early church.

Jesus emphasizes generosity in Matthew 5:42, saying, "Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you." This call to selfless giving is reiterated in Luke 6:30: "Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back." Similarly, in Luke 3:11, John the Baptist advises, "Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same."

The early Christian community exemplified these teachings. Acts 2:44-45 describes their way of life: "All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need." This communal approach continued in Acts 4:32: "All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had."

Abraham, in his willingness to sacrifice Isaac, and Joseph, in his forgiveness and provision for his brothers, serve as models of this sacrificial spirit. Abraham’s readiness to give up his beloved son (Genesis 22) and Joseph’s generosity despite his brothers' betrayal (Genesis 45) reflect the heart of true Christianity: a life lived for others.

In embracing these principles, true Christians mirror the early church's commitment to communal sharing and sacrificial love, recognizing that their lives and possessions are ultimately not their own, but gifts to be shared in service to others.

Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to get wealth. Amen
