SCRIPTURAL SECRETS TO A HAPPY MARRIAGE ( Part 2)

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Ephesians 5:31 'For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.". The scripture teaches that couples are not to compete with each other but complement each other in a symbiotic relationship. Here are more scriptural ways that a marriage can become more prosperous and fruitful

6. FORGIVENESS AND PEACEMAKING – “Do not let the sun go down on your wrath.” (Ephesians 4:26). Swift forgiveness restores peace and intimacy.

Prayer: Father, help us to forgive quickly and never allow anger to linger between us.

7. CULTIVATING CLOSENESS AND AFFECTION – “Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her.” (1 Corinthians 7:3). Love must be nurtured daily. Courtship never ends . Always recount the early days of your meeting with each other.

Prayer: Lord, deepen our closeness, rekindle passion, and keep our love fresh.

8. PARTNERSHIP AND MUTUAL SUPPORT – “Two are better than one… if one falls, the other lifts him up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9–10). Marriage means standing together in strength and weakness.

Prayer: Father, help us carry each other’s burdens and celebrate each other’s victories.

9. JOY, HUMOUR, AND LIGHTHEARTEDNESS – “A merry heart does good, like medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22). Laughter heals and strengthens bonds.

Prayer: Lord, fill our marriage with joy, humour, and a spirit of gladness.

10. SPEAKING LIFE THROUGH WORDS – “Let your speech always be with grace.” (Colossians 4:6). Loving communication builds trust and connection.

Prayer: Father, sanctify our tongues so our words may bring healing, encouragement, and unity.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and pursue what brings us together and stay away from what separates us .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to destroy generational hatred in families.
