Good -Life Devotional:
THE PRAYING HUSBAND
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
The strength of every family is tied to the prayers of its spiritual head. Scripture declares in 1 Timothy 2:8: “I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or disputing.” A praying husband is not only the priest of his home but also the first line of defense against the wrath of God that comes upon families because of sin.
Jesus Himself warned, “Pray so that you will not fall into temptation” (Luke 22:40). A father’s intercession preserves his wife and children from the snares of the enemy. When Jesus prayed for Peter’s faith not to fail, though Peter denied Him thrice, he was restored and later strengthened others (Luke 22:32). In the same way, a husband’s prayer covers his family in seasons of weakness.
Abraham modeled prayer and communion with God before Isaac, who in turn taught Jacob. A child’s greatest inheritance is not money but the ability to recognize God’s voice. Samuel learned to hear from God through the guidance of Eli (1 Samuel 3). Likewise, when fathers pray and walk with God, they pass down spiritual sensitivity to their children.
We need more praying fathers to keep the church strong. It begins with cultivating a healthy habit of studying God’s Word, living in holiness, and serving faithfully in the local church. Samuel heard God while ministering in the temple with Eli. Today, families will hear God more clearly when husbands rise as men of prayer.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and zeal to pray in the spirit .
PRAYER; Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to pray in the Spirit.
