RELIGION DOES NOT GUARANTEE SALVATION

    Salvation is not earned through religious practices but is a gift of God’s grace to those who trust in Him. This truth is demonstrated in Luke 18:10–14, where Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. The Pharisee prided himself on his religious acts, saying, “I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all I possess.” In contrast, the tax collector humbly confessed, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner!” Jesus declared that the tax collector, not the Pharisee, went home justified before God. This shows that salvation comes from a repentant heart, not religious rituals.

    Abraham, the father of faith, was declared righteous because of his faith, not his religious works. Genesis 15:6 states, “Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.” Romans 4:2–3 reaffirms this, emphasizing that righteousness is credited by faith, not by works. Abraham had no formal religion, yet he was justified by trusting in God.

    Similarly, the thief on the cross provides a powerful example. In Luke 23:42–43, the thief acknowledged Jesus as Lord and pleaded, “Remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Jesus assured him, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” This man received salvation without performing any religious act.

   Ephesians 2:8–9 confirms, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Religion cannot save; only faith in Christ does. Trust in God’s grace, not human effort, for salvation.

 In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and humility to make him known to the unsaved  

 PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to preach the gospel of your grace.
