   In Isaiah 62:1-6, God declares His unwavering commitment to ensuring righteousness and salvation prevail in His people’s lives. The passage proclaims, "I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night." Here, the Hebrew word for "watchmen" is shomrim (שֹׁמְרִים), meaning "guards" or "keepers." These individuals are divinely appointed to remain vigilant, intercede persistently, and proclaim God's promises over the land.

   Watchmen serve as spiritual guardians, standing in the gap for others through prayer and declaring God's Word until His will is fulfilled. Their role reflects the unceasing intercession modeled by Jesus, our eternal High Priest (Hebrews 7:25). They are called to persist "day and night," symbolizing unrelenting commitment and dedication to God's purposes.

   Isaiah 62:1 emphasizes that God's zeal for Zion's righteousness and salvation will not diminish: "For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch." Similarly, Ezekiel 33:6 warns that if a watchman fails to sound the alarm when danger approaches, he is held accountable.

   God has called believers to be modern-day watchmen, interceding for families, communities, and nations (1 Timothy 2:1-2). As we heed this call, let us persist in prayer, trusting that righteousness will shine forth and salvation will flourish in the land. "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much" (James 5:16).

  In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and zeal for prayers .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to proclaim your righteousness.
