Good -Life Devotional: AVOIDING SOOTHSAYERS AND DIVINERS: STAYING ROOTED IN GOD’S WORD

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Any prophet or prophetess or spirit medium that does teach on righteousness , holiness and the importance of having  the Holy Spirit is a soothsayer and diviner .

Patronizing soothsayers, diviners, and false prophets leads to spiritual rebellion, distancing believers from the truth of God's Word. Psalm 107:10-11 warns of the consequences: "Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in misery and chains, because they had rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High." Such rebellion results in spiritual bondage and separation from God.

False guides manipulate, causing error in understanding God's will. Isaiah 9:16 cautions, “Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.” Similarly, Colossians 2:19-23 highlights the dangers of relying on human traditions and deceptive practices rather than Christ, emphasizing that wisdom lies in clinging to Him as the Head of the Church.

To combat these deceptions, we need discernment (Hebrews 5:14) and a hunger for God's Word (Psalm 119:103). By immersing ourselves in Scripture and prayer, we can identify and avoid these deceptive influences, staying firmly rooted in the truth of God’s Word. Only through Christ can we remain free from error and grow in spiritual maturity.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and protection from deception.

PRAYER; Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the deceiver.
