The curse of failure at the edge of breakthroughs is broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good -Life Devotional: JESUS CHRIST SAVED THE WOMAN CAUGHT IN ADULTERY FROM EXECUTION BY RELIGIOUS BIGOTS.
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Text: John 8:3–11
The woman caught in adultery was guilty, and the Law of Moses prescribed death by stoning. However, the religious leaders brought her to Jesus, not to seek justice, but to test Him and accuse Him of contradicting Moses. Jesus declared that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfil it (Matthew 5:17).
The Law revealed God's righteous standard, but human effort could not justify anyone before Him. Scripture declares that no one is perfectly righteous (Ecclesiastes 7:20). James 2:10 teaches that whoever stumbles at one point is guilty of breaking the Law. Galatians 3:10 explains the curse upon those who fail to continue in everything written in the Law. Thus, all humanity stands guilty before God (Romans 3:23). The religious executioners were as guilty before God as the woman caught in adultery.
When Jesus challenged the accusers, saying, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her,” their consciences convicted them, and they departed. Religious people who commit violence and bloodshed in God's name are equally accountable to Him.
Jesus forgave the woman and commanded her, “Go, and sin no more.” His forgiveness was not approval of adultery; it was an expression of divine mercy calling her to repentance.
She addressed Him as “Lord” (John 8:11). The Greek word 'Kyrios' means lord, master, or sovereign and is also used for God. Jesus demonstrated divine authority by forgiving her sins while demanding a transformed life.
We are saved by grace, not by perfect law-keeping. When we come to Christ in repentance and faith, we receive mercy and are called to abandon sin.
REFLECTION
Do I condemn others while ignoring my own sins? Am I receiving Christ's mercy while genuinely turning away from sin?
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive Him as Lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome sin .
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy through Jesus Christ. Forgive my sins, deliver me from hypocrisy, and help me extend mercy to others. Give me grace to forsake sin and walk in righteousness through the Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name. Amen.
