THE POOR HAS HOPE

The yoke of stagnation and confusion is broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional:

THE POOR HAS HOPE

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Text: Job 5:12–16

“So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.” — Job 5:16 (KJV)

Poverty does not mean the absence of hope, and oppression does not mean that God has abandoned the oppressed. Job 5:12–16 reveals that God frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. Those who manipulate systems, exploit the vulnerable, and devise wicked plans against the poor will ultimately discover that human power cannot defeat God's righteous judgment.

Psalm 107:38–40 describes how God can humble princes and cause them to wander in the wilderness, while Psalm 35:10 declares that the Lord delivers the poor from those too strong for them. God sees the suffering of ordinary people under corrupt leadership, economic injustice, and the abuse of authority. Though wicked rulers may appear powerful, their positions are temporary, and their schemes cannot escape divine accountability.

Proverbs 22:22–23 warns against robbing the poor because the Lord will plead their cause. Similarly, Psalm 72:12–14 declares that God delivers the needy who cry out and rescues them from oppression and violence. Therefore, the poor must not surrender to despair. Their hope rests in God's justice, His faithfulness, and His power to overturn wicked plans.

However, believers must also pursue righteousness, reject corruption, and work for justice in their communities. Isaiah 1:17 commands us to seek justice and defend the oppressed. God calls His people not merely to pray for deliverance but also to become instruments of compassion and fairness.

PRACTICAL FAITH APPLICATIONS: Refuse to lose hope because of present hardship. Pray for justice, reject dishonest gain, and support efforts that protect the vulnerable.

REFLECTION: Am I trusting God through hardship while doing my part to promote justice and defend the oppressed?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive Him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to get wealth. Righteous Father, frustrate the plans of those who exploit the poor. Deliver the oppressed, expose corruption, establish justice, and give the suffering hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.
