You shall not labour in vain, a great harvest awaits you because of the anointing of God's favour upon you
Good -Life Devotional: DRAWING OUR SECURITY FROM THE GREAT STABILISERS—JESUS CHRIST AND HIS WORD ( part 2)
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
In a world marked by instability, many look to riches, positions, or human systems for security. Yet Jesus warns us about the emptiness of such dependence. In Luke 12:19–20, the rich man rested in his wealth, saying, “Soul, you have many goods laid up… take your ease.” But God said, “Fool! This very night your soul is required of you.” Human security is fragile and temporary.
True stability comes only from Jesus Christ and His unchanging Word. “We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things seen are temporal, but the things unseen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18). When our hearts are anchored in eternal realities, not earthly illusions, fear loses its grip. That is why Scripture commands, “Set your minds and keep them set on what is above—higher things” (Colossians 3:2).
Though human structures may collapse, “the Lord is the strength of my life” (Psalm 27:1). Though storms may rage, His Word stands firm, for “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away” (Matthew 24:35). When we build our lives on this Rock, we stand unshaken (Matthew 7:24–25).
Let your confidence be in Christ who “never leaves nor forsakes” (Hebrews 13:5–6). Riches can vanish, systems can fail, but Jesus—our Great Stabiliser—remains the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Draw your security from Him, and you will live anchored, assured, and at peace in every season.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit for directions.
PRAYERS: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the fear of death.
