Good -Life Devotional: YOUR OFFERINGS SHALL SPEAK FOR YOU IN THE TIME OF CRISIS
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Scripture reveals that faithful offerings and devoted service create a spiritual testimony before God that speaks loudly in times of crisis. When King Hezekiah was struck with a terminal illness, the prophet Isaiah declared that he would die. In response, Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed, saying, “Remember now, O Lord, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in faithfulness and with a whole heart” (2 Kings 20:3, AMP). His life of service and devotion stood as a memorial before God, and the Lord answered by healing him and adding fifteen more years to his life (2 Kings 20:5–6).
Similarly, Dorcas (Tabitha) in Acts 9:39 was remembered for her charitable deeds and generosity to the poor. Even in death, her offerings and service spoke on her behalf, and God used Peter to restore her to life. Her works followed her, just as Scripture declares: “Their deeds follow them” (Revelation 14:13).
Psalm 20:1–4 affirms this principle, declaring that in the day of trouble, the Lord will remember your offerings and accept your sacrifices. The Apostle Paul echoes this truth in Philippians 4:17, teaching that giving creates a spiritual account that abounds to the believer’s credit. Jesus Himself warned against living without kingdom investment, calling such people “not rich toward God” (Luke 12:21).
The churches of Macedonia and Philippi understood this mystery. Despite deep poverty, they joyfully gave and even begged Paul to receive their offerings (2 Corinthians 8:1–5). In times of crisis, your offerings and service can silence the accuser who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). God is a faithful rewarder (Hebrews 6:10), and what you sow into His kingdom will speak for you when it matters most.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and commitment to divine service.
