JESUS CHRIST INSTITUTED SPIRITUAL ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH

You shall not fall victim of fraud because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional: JESUS CHRIST INSTITUTED SPIRITUAL ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Spiritual accountability is not a human invention; it was instituted by Jesus Christ as a foundational principle for growth, order, and effectiveness in the New Testament Church. Even Saul of Tarsus, later Apostle Paul, though personally encountered by Christ on the road to Damascus, was sent to Ananias for instruction and restoration (Acts 9:10–18). Through Ananias’ obedience, the scales of limitation, doubt, and blindness fell from Saul’s eyes. This reveals that divine encounters do not eliminate the need for spiritual accountability; rather, they often lead us into it.

Many believers wander with spiritual scales—doubt, pride, immaturity, and limitation—because they despise accountability. Scripture teaches that God works through order. Angels are “ministering spirits sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1:14), but they do not operate outside God’s established spiritual order. Resistance to accountability hinders divine cooperation and blocks spiritual progress.

In the family structure, women are called to accountability to their husbands “because of the angels” (1 Corinthians 11:10), not due to inferiority, but for administrative reasons and an example for children to follow .

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and humility to be under authority.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome witchcraft.
