The yoke of poverty and stagnation is broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good Life Devotional: GOD HAS HEARD YOUR CRY FOR DIVINE INTERVENTION
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
“And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows; and I have come down to rescue them.” — Exodus 3:7–8 (AMP)
Oppression often reaches a point where human solutions fail and only divine intervention can change the situation. This was the condition of Israel in Egypt. After years of bondage under Pharaoh, the people of God cried out in anguish. Their suffering was real, their burden was heavy, and their strength was gone. Yet Scripture reveals a comforting truth: God not only saw their affliction—He heard their cry and came down to deliver them.
God responded by raising a deliverer. He sent Moses as His instrument, and through supernatural power He broke the tyranny of Pharaoh and led His people into freedom. The lesson is clear: when God's people cry out in repentance and faith, He intervenes in history.
However, the Bible also teaches that societal oppression and bad governance often emerge from spiritual rebellion. Psalm 78 recounts Israel’s history as a warning. The psalm describes a “stubborn and rebellious generation” whose hearts were not faithful to God (Psalm 78:8). Because they forgot God’s works and rejected His covenant (Psalm 78:11), leadership failed. Even the warriors of Ephraim turned back in battle because they would not walk in obedience (Psalm 78:9–10). Corrupt priestly leadership eventually led to national tragedy, as God allowed judgment to fall on the land (Psalm 78:60–64).
Yet the story does not end in judgment. God’s mercy provides restoration. After the failure of corrupt leadership, God raised David, a shepherd king who led the people with integrity and skill (Psalm 78:70–72). This reveals an important principle: when a nation turns back to God, He raises righteous leadership.
Today, the same God still hears the cries of His people. When believers humble themselves, repent, and pray, divine intervention begins. God can overturn oppression, expose corruption, and raise leaders after His own heart.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to serve you. Father , are the God who hears the cries of Your people. Just as You saw Israel’s affliction and delivered them from Pharaoh, look upon our land today. Forgive our rebellion and restore our hearts to You. Overturn corrupt systems, frustrate wicked leadership, and raise righteous leaders with integrity like David. Lord, intervene in our nation and establish justice, righteousness, and peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
