True Christianity demands total repentance. In Acts 2:38, Peter declared, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Likewise, Acts 3:19 commands, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” These verses show that repentance is the foundation of Christian conversion.

     Repentance means a complete change of mind, heart, and direction. The Greek word 'metanoia' implies turning away from sin and turning fully to God. A Christian, therefore, is not someone who merely believes but one who has been born again and has forsaken sin.

     The idea that a Christian can habitually live in sin and plan to repent later, especially before a priest, is both unbiblical and dangerous. What if death comes while they are in the act of sin? There is no second chance after death (Hebrews 9:27).

     The grace of God does not permit sin; rather, it empowers righteousness. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 warns clearly: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?... neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers… shall inherit the kingdom of God.” The Greek words here—like pornoi (fornicators), eidōlolatrai (idolaters), and moichoi (adulterers)—refer to those practicing sin.

    No one can claim the name Christian while living as a sinner. True Christians live righteously by the power of God's grace, having turned from sin completely.

  In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and wisdom for righteous living.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to live righteously.
