PROPHET MUHAMMAD WAS NOT SURE OF HIS SALVATION , ARE YOU?

You shall not labour in vain because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good --Life Devotional: PROPHET MUHAMMAD WAS NOT SURE OF HIS SALVATION , ARE YOU?

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Romans 8:1

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.'

One of the key differences between Islam and Christianity lies in the assurance of salvation. While Christianity teaches that believers can know they have eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ, Islamic sources show that Prophet Muhammad himself was uncertain of his final destiny.

In Qur’an Surah Al-Ahqaf 46:9, Muhammad is commanded to say, “I am not something original among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you...” This admission reveals his personal uncertainty about salvation. Further, in Sahih al-Bukhari 23:334, Muhammad reportedly said, “By Allah, though I am the Apostle of Allah, yet I do not know what Allah will do to me.” This statement, found in one of Islam’s most trusted hadith collections, confirms that even the prophet of Islam had no assurance of his eternal state.

In contrast, the Bible offers full assurance to believers. 1 John 5:13 (AMP) states: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God... so that you will know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you have eternal life.” Salvation in Christianity is not earned through works but received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9).

This contrast underscores a powerful truth: in Christ, believers can have peace and confidence in their eternal destiny. A prophet who cannot guarantee his own salvation cannot guarantee it for others. Only Jesus, the sinless Son of God, offers that assurance.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and boldness to preach the gospel.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the fear of death.
