The enemy's weapon against your prosperity shall backfire because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good -Life Devotional: THE ABOMINABLE EFFECTS OF A NATION NEGOTIATING WITH TERRORISTS — A BIBLICAL AND STRATEGIC ANALYSIS. ( PART 2)
By Michael Benson Ajayi
One of Satan's strategies to destroy a nation is by causing corrupt leaders to go into an ungodly alliance or covenant with terrorists.
Islamic Jihadists are driven by an extrem interpretation of the Qur'an which most classic scholars disagree with based on contextual analysis . The extremists say that the Qur'an says Surah 2:256 — “There is no compulsion in religion.”
Muslim commentators generally agree this verse was revealed in Medina, after Muhammad gained political authority.
But the same Qur’ān also includes:
Commands to fight until others accept Islam or submit
“Fight those who do not believe… until they pay the jizya.” (Surah 9:29)
Commands to fight until religion is “for Allah alone”
(Surah 2:193 and 8:39)
Death penalty for apostasy is found in the Hadith:
“Whoever changes his religion, kill him.” (Sahih Bukhari 9:84:57) these are the driving principles behind Muslim extremism resulting in the killing of moderate Muslims , Christians and Jews . Going into a peace agreement with such groups is unsustainable because of inreconcilable difference in idealogies .
Here are more consequences of negotiating with such terrorists and those with similar idealism in other religions in a circular state like Nigeria.
11) . IT BRINGS NATIONAL INSTABILITY
God told Asa he would have “wars from now on” (2 Chronicles 16:9).
12). IT DAMAGES INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION
Nations lose credibility when they negotiate with killers.
13. IT CORRUPTS LEADERSHIP MORALLY
Asa imprisoned the prophet instead of repenting (2 Chronicles 16:10).
14). IT DISHONORS VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE
Families lose trust when murderers are rewarded (Proverbs 24:23–24).
15). IT INVITES DIVINE JUDGMENT
Bloodshed rewarded is bloodshed multiplied (Habakkuk 2:12).
Additional Effects
16). IT CREATES A PRECEDENT THAT VIOLENCE PRODUCES POWER
Groups see terror as the quickest route to influence (Judges 2:19).
17) . IT SILENCES PROPHETIC AND REFORMING VOICES
Government suppresses truth-tellers, as Asa silenced Hanani (2 Chronicles 16:10).
18). IT DIVIDES THE NATION AND BREEDS SUSPICION
“How can two walk together unless they agree?” (Amos 3:3).
19.) IT LEADS TO SPIRITUAL DECLINE
Calling evil good destabilizes righteousness (Isaiah 5:20).
20.) IT PASSES VIOLENCE TO THE NEXT GENERATION
Unconfronted sin becomes generational (Exodus 20:5).
In Conclusion ; King Asa’s example stands as a warning to all nations: negotiating with violent groups is not a path to peace but a doorway to deeper bondage. God’s standard is unwavering—evil must be confronted, not rewarded. Nations that uphold justice, trust in God, and refuse to empower violent men position themselves for divine protection and lasting peace.
PRAYER : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome terrorism .
