The evil hand causing unnecessary delays to your breakthrough shall be broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good -Life Devotional: WHEN DIVINE JUSTICE IS DELAYED
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
“Because the sentence against an evil act is not executed quickly, the hearts of the sons of men are fully set to do evil.” — Ecclesiastes 8:11 (AMP)
God’s patience is often misunderstood. When judgment is delayed, many assume God approves of their actions. Yet divine delay is not divine approval — it is mercy giving room for repentance (2 Peter 3:9). However, the human formative nature sometimes requires immediate judgment to restore holy fear and preserve purity in the community of faith.
In Acts 5:1–11, Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit and fell dead instantly. Their swift punishment demonstrated that God’s Spirit cannot be mocked. Likewise, in 1 Corinthians 5:1–5, Paul commanded the church to hand over a man sleeping with his father’s wife “to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved.” Such judgment was both corrective and protective — to awaken reverence and preserve holiness among believers.
Though God is longsuffering, He still disciplines His children. Hebrews 12:6 reminds us, “The Lord disciplines those He loves.” Immediate judgment, when necessary, is an act of love that turns hearts back to righteousness.
Yet for the unrepentant, delayed judgment stores up wrath (Romans 2:5). God’s mercy is meant to lead us to repentance, not complacency. The wise heart trembles at His Word and lives in obedience, knowing that “God will bring every deed into judgment” (Ecclesiastes 12:14).
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and boldness to preach the gospel.
Lord, help me never to mistake Your mercy for weakness. Teach me to walk in holy fear and quick repentance, that I may always honor You.
