SEVEN FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS ATHEISTS  CANNOT ANSWER

Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

‭Isaiah 45:9 NKJV‬

“Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?

Atheism, the absence of belief in deities, offers a naturalistic view of the universe. While it provides a framework grounded in scientific inquiry, certain profound questions remain elusive within atheistic paradigms:

1. **Why does the universe exist?** Science explains how the universe functions, but the existential "why" remains unanswered. Atheism lacks a framework for addressing why there is something rather than nothing.

2. **What caused the Big Bang?** While the Big Bang theory describes the universe's expansion from a singularity, atheism struggles to explain what triggered this event. The cause behind the origin of the universe is still a profound mystery.

3. **Why are the laws of physics as they are?** The precise and consistent laws governing the universe raise questions about their origin. Atheism attributes them to natural processes, but the underlying reason for their specific nature is unexplained.

4. **Why is there consciousness?** The emergence of self-aware beings from inanimate matter is a puzzle. Atheism relies on evolutionary biology to explain the development of consciousness, yet the fundamental reason why consciousness exists at all is unclear.

5. **What is the basis of morality?** Atheism posits that moral values arise from social and evolutionary processes. However, it struggles to explain the objective basis of morality and why certain ethical principles hold universal appeal.

6. **What happens after death?** Atheism generally holds that consciousness ceases after death, yet the definitive nature of this transition remains an enigma. The mystery of death and potential afterlife scenarios remain speculative.

7. **Why do we seek meaning?** Human beings innately seek purpose and meaning in life. Atheism may view this as a byproduct of evolution, but it does not fully account for the deep, existential drive for significance.

These questions highlight areas where atheism, grounded in empirical evidence and reason, reaches its explanatory limits.

It against the backdrop of these unanswered questions that the scripture says in ‭Psalms 53:1 NKJV‬

" The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good.

" Refusal to believe in God will exempt you from the judgement day when men shall be rewarded for good works and condemned for sins committed. Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:"

Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to preach the gospel with signs and wonders .Amen
