THE CARNALLY MINDED CHRISTIAN

You shall eat and be satisfied regardless of the economy because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good-Life Devotional:

THE CARNALLY MINDED CHRISTIAN

By Rev Michael Benson

Matthew 7:21

" Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. "

A carnally minded Christian is one who, despite professing faith in Christ, continues to live according to the flesh rather than the Spirit. This dichotomy is clearly addressed in Scripture. Paul admonishes in Romans 8:5-6, "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

Carnal Christians may struggle with worldly desires, showing little difference from non-believers. In 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, Paul rebukes the Corinthians, saying, "I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly."

Living carnally undermines spiritual growth and effectiveness in God's kingdom. James 4:4 warns, "Friendship with the world means enmity against God. Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."

Thus, Christians are called to abandon carnal ways, embracing transformation through the renewing of their minds (Romans 12:2), striving to live by the Spirit and produce its fruit (Galatians 5:22-23).

Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to live in holiness. Amen
