Good -Life Devotional:
SEVEN SIGNS OF A LOW SELF-ESTEEM .
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Judges 6:12,15
"And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house."
The lord had to cure Gideon of his low self-esteem before he could use him. Many of God's people hinder the grace of God in their lives because of their low self- esteem. God wants to use every Christian to do mighty works on earth if we would allow him heal our low self-esteem through his word and Spirit .
Low self-esteem can significantly impact one’s life and relationships. Here are seven indicators of low self-esteem, each paired with a Bible verse to provide spiritual insight and encouragement.

1. **Self-Criticism**: Individuals with low self-esteem often harshly criticize themselves. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” This verse reminds us that our thoughts about ourselves shape our identity.

2. **Fear of Failure**: A person who fears failure might avoid challenges. 2 Timothy 1:7 provides comfort: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

3. **Social Withdrawal**: Avoiding social interactions can be a sign of low self-worth. Habitually not commenting on posts or liking comments on social media is a sign of low self-esteem. Hebrews 10:25 encourages us to connect: “Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.”

4. **Difficulty Accepting Compliments**: Those with low self-esteem might struggle to accept praise. Psalm 139:14 reminds us of our inherent value: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

5. **Perfectionism**: The need to be perfect often stems from a lack of self-acceptance. Philippians 4:13 offers assurance: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

6. **Comparing Oneself to Others**: This behavior can lead to feelings of inadequacy. Galatians 6:4 advises: “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.”

7. **Negative Self-Talk**: Constantly speaking negatively about oneself can perpetuate low self-esteem. Ephesians 4:29 encourages positive speech: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.”

These Bible verses highlight the importance of recognizing our value in God's eyes and encourage us to nurture a healthy self-esteem. Remember God's word which says Ephesians 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" and Colossians 2:10 "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:" You are blessed and complete in Jesus Christ therefore, there should be no room for a low self-esteem. Meditate on these words for thirty days and you will be amazed at the change in your life .
Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome low self-esteem. Amen
