SIX CONSEQUENCES FOR THE DISREGARD FOR FAITH IN GOD IN  NATION BUILDING

The story of Ahab, as depicted in the Bible, serves as a cautionary tale for nations that disregard faith in God during the process of nation-building. Ahab's reign over Israel, as described in 1 Kings 16:29-34, highlights several detrimental consequences of such neglect.

1. **Moral Decline**: Ahab's marriage to Jezebel and the subsequent introduction of Baal worship led to widespread moral corruption. 1 Kings 21:25 states, "There was never anyone like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the Lord, urged on by Jezebel his wife." When a nation abandons faith in God, it often witnesses a decline in moral and ethical standards.

2. **National Idolatry**: Ahab's promotion of idol worship brought spiritual decay. 1 Kings 18:18 reveals Elijah's rebuke: "You have abandoned the Lord's commands and have followed the Baals." National idolatry results in a society straying from foundational spiritual principles.

3. **Divine Judgment**: Ahab's actions incurred God’s judgment upon Israel. 1 Kings 17:1 recounts Elijah’s prophecy of a drought, symbolizing divine disfavor. Nations disregarding God often face adverse circumstances, interpreted as divine judgment ( God's four judgments 1,economic collapse, 2 insecurity, 3 militancy and war 4 diseases Ezekiel 14:21)

4. **Social Injustice**: Ahab's reign saw significant injustice, notably the murder of Naboth for his vineyard (1 Kings 21:1-16). Proverbs 29:2 warns, "When the wicked rule, the people groan." Disregard for divine justice fosters social inequality and oppression.

5. **Political Instability**: Ahab's reign was marked by constant conflict and turmoil, as seen in frequent wars with surrounding nations (1 Kings 20-22). Proverbs 14:34 notes, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people." Without godly principles, political instability becomes prevalent.

6. **Loss of Prophetic Guidance**: Ahab's disregard for prophets like Elijah led to a loss of divine guidance. Proverbs 11:14 states, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls." Nations ignoring faith in God lose the prophetic voices that can steer them toward righteousness and stability.

Ahab's story underscores the critical need for faith in God in nation-building. His disregard led to moral decay, idolatry, divine judgment, social injustice, political instability, and loss of prophetic guidance. For nations to thrive, integrating faith in God is essential.

In your daily prayers ask God for increasing appetite for his word and the fear of God in our families and nation .

Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power for excellence. Amen
