PRAY ONLY FOR GODLY LEADERS

Your family shall be far from disaster because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional:

WE ARE TO PRAY  ONLY FOR GODLY LEADERS NOT THE UNGODLY

 By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Ezra 6:10-11 "That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

[11]Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this."

The above scripture is proof that a leader can be god-fearing without being a Christian, Jew  or Muslim. King Darius did not belong to any of these religions and yet feared God. There are nations prospering under God-fearing leaders who are neither Jew, Christian or Muslims.

Praying for righteous rulers is a common theme in many religious texts, emphasizing the desire for leadership that aligns with moral and ethical principles. In the Bible, there is a clear call to support leaders who seek justice and uphold godly values.

Proverbs 29:2 states, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." This verse highlights the importance of righteous leadership for the well-being of society. The Bible consistently underscores the need for rulers who are just and fear God, understanding that their actions impact the entire nation.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 also encourages prayers for those in authority: "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." This passage indicates that praying for leaders can foster a peaceful and godly society.

However, when faced with ungodly rulers, the focus shifts to seeking divine intervention for change or wisdom. Psalm 109:8 says, "Let his days be few; and let another take his office." This verse reflects a desire for ungodly rulers to be replaced by those who honor God’s principles.

Ultimately, praying for righteous rulers is a reflection of a desire for leadership that promotes justice, peace, and godliness, aligning with the biblical mandate for a just and moral society.
