Good -Life Devotional:

GOD SEEKS FOR AVAILABILITY NOT ABILITY IN LEADERSHIP ( PART.1)

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

Proverbs 28:15

"As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people."

Satan uses wicked rulers to fulfill his purpose of killing, stealing and destroying God's people and frustrate the spread of the gospel on earth. The bible describes satan as a roaring line seeking for whom to devour. That's how wicked rulers are .

God desires the righteous to be in leadership to forestall the enemy's plans against God's people.

*God Seeks Availability, Not Ability, for Leadership: Lessons from Jephthah, Gideon, and David**

In the Scriptures, we find compelling stories of individuals who, despite their perceived inadequacies, were called by God to lead His people. These stories remind us that God values availability over ability when choosing leaders. Jephthah, Gideon, and David are prime examples of this truth. Their lives demonstrate that God’s calling is not about our qualifications but about our willingness to be used by Him.

JEPHTHAH: The Outcast Called to Deliver (Judges 11)

Jephthah was a man with a troubled past. Born to a prostitute and rejected by his family, he was forced to live as an outcast. Despite this, when the Israelites were in desperate need of a leader to deliver them from the oppression of the Ammonites, they turned to Jephthah.

In Judges 11:1-11, we read how the elders of Gilead sought Jephthah, asking him to lead them in battle. Jephthah could have focused on his past rejections and lack of formal leadership training, but instead, he made himself available to God’s call. He accepted the responsibility, and with God’s help, he led Israel to victory.

Jephthah’s story illustrates that God often chooses those whom society overlooks. God did not seek out the most skilled warrior or the most respected leader. Instead, He chose someone who was willing to step into the role despite his insecurities and doubts. Jephthah’s availability was what God needed to bring deliverance to His people.

In our daily prayers we should ask the lord for the spirit of boldness in our desire to be used for leadership roles whenever we are called to duty .

Proverbs 29:2 "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."  Prosperity and peace can only be attained when the righteous are in power in a nation .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power for godly leadership. Amen
